I have always use lepro tips. My current tip is the first one I ever had mushroom on me. So I got to thinking and came to ask.

Any suggestions on how the shave it properly without messing up the ferrule?

Any comments on the layered tips. I was looking at the sniper tips and think about trying on out. So any feedback from those who use a sniper would greatly be appreicated.

Thanks in advance

I think the common view is that layered tips are superior to one piece tips. I'm not stating this as fact, but as a prevailing opinion. I seem to like them better than the one piece tips I've had.

I have not tried a Sniper yet, but have the Tiger Everest on my Predator shaft...I've not been playing long, and before this tip, every tip was just a tip to me, more or less. Even my previous Moori, while seeming a bit better than my one piece tips, it didn't really blow my mind. The Everest seems to require less scuffing, holds chalk better, and hasn't mushroomed at all. I would bet the Sniper is likewise an excellent quality tip, and I've read plenty of positive reviews of the Sniper also.

Layered tips are generally more consistent over the life of the cue, i.e., no use compression resulting in hardness. However, Mosconi (and most old timers) used a single layer tip, so there's at least an argument in their favor.

Personally, I've used snipers for the last 2 years and they are great. I used Moori's before that, and Le Pro before that. All served their purpose...
