As I pack all my stuff to go home I'm a little saddened that it's over. The highlight of my year is the Derby City Classic! I've made every one and doubt if I ever miss one as long as my feeble body will carry me there. I love the pool action, but even more important to me is the reunion with some of my best friends, who I'm afraid I don't see enough of. Danny DiLiberto has been one of my best buddies for years, and lately the DCC is almost the only time we get together. The same is true of many other old "road partners" of mine and the DCC is more like a family reunion than just another pool tournament to a lot of us! Too many of them are here, only in spirit now, but they are remembered in the late night story sessions, every night in my suite. While I'll sleep better in my own bed, I'm already looking forward to next years event! Hope others find it as enjoyable as I do!

just more hot air!

There is something very special about seeing people you've known for 30-40 years .... or more! I can't describe it but it's a deep sense of belonging in the world and that feeling just fills your being as you visit with old friends.

It's a feeling that dissapates as old friends aren't seen for long periods of time and can only refilled when in the company of those that shared in those experiences. It' s strange how powerfull an experience it is to be in the company of old friends. The world seems more friendly. Things make more sense. I feel more connected to everything.

I experience this a few times a year, in the summer, at certain car shows when I run into people I knew in the late 50's. It's a truly beautiful experience that makes life MUCH more full and enjoyable.
