Hello to all,

This post was moved off of the main page.
I would like to thank everyone for the help on my last post
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showth...hlight=antique

http://forums.azbilliards.com//showthread.php?t=143533 ( this is the 1 I just moved from main category)

sorry for all the questions, but I have a few more.
Question 1
The base that the slate rest on (frame) should the joints be glued together? (See picture)
Question2
I am thinking of putting Simonis 860 or 860 HR in tournament Blue. I will be playing a mix of 9 and 8 Ball. This will be the table my children will learn on. It should get a lot of use. The table is an oversized 8’
I have been looking on ebay and I can get it for around $225
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase this from?
How much does it cost to have a table leveled and clothe installed?
Anyone in the Denver area? I will be moving to FT Carson next month.
Question 3
Pocket irons and leather. What is a reasonable price to have the leather and pockets re-done?
Ken classicbilliards said around $350 is this a good price?
Can I do these myself? http://www.poolndarts.com/94-America...Iron-Leathers/
Do you have to be a person that does leather worker?
Any suggestions on what color to go with if the cloth is in tourny blue?
I need a corner pocket Iron for the table? It broke where the bolt goes through it? Should I get it welded or buy a new pocket?
Question 4 I am removing Question # 4 because John Burns reaqlized I didnt know what I was talking about. Thanks John
Question 5
K55 is the rail cushions I need? What brand should I buy or stay away from? When I order them I just tell them I have an oversized 8’ table?
How much should it cost to have them installed?
That’s it for now
Again thanks everyone for your help.

I haven't read your other thread but I'll stab at some of your questions -

The slate liner should be cleaned up but won't necessarily need to be reglued since the slate screws go thru the slate and
thru the liner into the frame so it's not going anywhere.

Check Hood Leather in Milwaukee for refurbing the pockets.
You should get by for less than $300. Color should blend to the wood
of the table, not the cloth color. They can send you some samples on request. I think hoodleather.com should have the tel#.
There's some pics of a refurbed pocket set I had them do here -
http://www.poolfelt.com/bwick/arcade_project.html

On the cloth the going price is $233 for 8' OS.
Click the link in my sig and check out the Simonis cloth styles.
860HR is probably a good choice for your application.

Brunswick should take K55 but measure the back of one of the cushions - should be 1 1/4" tall.
New cushions should be 47" long (48" for Artemis if you want to spend the big $)

As for install prices, can't help you since pricing can vary significantly based
on your locale. Possibly one of the other guys here can recommend someone.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks for the reply,

I ordered the cloth Tournament Blue Saturday from http://poolfelt.com/

I got a hold of hood Leather, and they est $350-380 I don’t remember exactly I was kind of irritated. I understand you get what you pay for, but to me, these seem like the easiest Irons to leather and a minimal amount of leather work involved because of the Chrome shields that cover them. I am no expert sorry if I offend anyone. But Alex was really friendly and said he could send Leathers and pockets out for $190 and I could install them myself? I might do that.

I think I will be doing the leathers in brown or walnut.

And the table you refinished looked great.

TANKS

On a side note -
If you pick up the leather pieces you need then a shoe repair shop can sew them up for you.
Did this many moons ago and the pockets came out fine at minimal cost.
I'd doubt you want to try using a needle and thread thru leather.

on 20th century pockets I would let Hood do them, normal pockets to the shoe man at least in my town

Thanks everyone. Now I will see how much money I have or If I feel smart/skilled enough to do this..

I reread the post an didn't see anything, but, that is a T-rail bolt you have pictured. That bolts the rails to the table via the side of the slate, yes, it goes into the side of the slate, not from under the slate to the bottom of the rail.

Dartman, Thanks that what I was thinking

otlb, Thank you.
Alot of the people I am talking too are saying they gust rivot them together. I can use a rivot gun, lol

wakuljr,
Yes I figured that out. I thought that was what held the blinds on the table! because mine had been altered with a bolt going through the center. But john burns gave me a lesson, he explained how it was supposed to be set up. Thanks everyone.
