Any 2012 VNEA Stories?

Louis,

The VNEA results for the Open Team Regular Division show Erostats.com finishing fourth. Rochester, Minnesota? Hello from Rochester, NY!

Our BCAPL team played a team from Coon Rapids, MN. Great group of guys and some good shooters as well.

Wound up playing at least two young guns from Minnesota in the BCAPL Open Singles. Dustin Morris and Michael Perrone Jr. Both great young talents. Was very, very fortunate to get by both of them.

thanks lyn, for some reason i couldnt find the results on vnea's website.

michael perrone jr... aka: the kid. got one of my teammates for a good chunk a change last year. 2 times at blackbear and moma. ranked a master here in mn. so you must be a strong player too.

which brings me to something someone mentioned earlier. 3 masters on a team. i heard someone saying that while outside having a smoke break.
ranking in your hometown/state/country doesn't make you that rank in vegas correct? kinda hard to do across the board fairly i think. always hear complaints at most tournaments about people sandbagging.

Front page at VNEA. Left side is results. Click on Results. You'll need Microsoft Silverfish to view the pages.

If you want an accurate answer, go to the BCAPL or CSI websites. Look for Contacts. Find Bill Stock or bill@playcsipool.com. He is the man with all the answers regarding player ranking.

There were two Spanish teams there. Our team beat out the Spanish 'B' team to get 13-16 in the Regular. The other Spanish Team is a top flight Masters team. There were three great players with Andreas being the best IMO. The other two that played real strong was a young looking kid, Imanuel and Fransico. I think they ended up getting 9-12 though. I had a good time but they racked up some mini money from me. For some reason they were always able to get one in the top part of the bracket and one in the bottom, I usually beat one but beating both was tough. We could have chopped and I would have been fine with that. I wondered if they were from spain becaue every time I would try to say something in spanish, they looked at me funny. It could have been my silly attempt to even communicate in spanish.

I was group leader/translator for these two Spanish teams. One team finished 17/24 as you say and the other team finished the same as your team in 13/16
None of the two teams were Masters quality and if they were we would have played them in the Masters division.

The statistics of the better of the two teams were:

Andres: in Individual Regular finished 129 - 192, in team won 17, lost 9
Francisco: in Individual Regular finished 97 - 128, in team won 14, lost 12
Imanol: in Individual Regular finished 257 - 384, in team won 14, lost 11
Juan: in Individual Regular finished 49 - 64, in team won 13, lost 11
Jorge: in Individual Regular finished 257 - 384, in team won 7, lost 18
Diego: in individual finished 129 - 192, in team won 12, lost 17

Andres, Francisco and Jorge are 2nd division players in Spain, Diego and Juan are 3rd division and the youngest one, Imanol is a 4th division player.
At least three of those players will be promoted at the end of this season.

If you consider this a top flight Masters team, then you must consider your own team and the 12 other better teams as Masters also.

Up until two years ago, I was playing BCA and BCAPL and first John Lewis and then Bill Stock used to send me a list of all Portuguese and Spanish entrants so that I could comment as to their entries in the various divisions. That way Spanish or Portuguese top flight players never found their way into the Regular divisions.
Maybe the VNEA should do the same.

Its a short race so these one time results are hard to justify where they would be ranked. I made no case against them playing in the regular at all. I am all for that. I have said time and time again that, since there is little money in pool, everyone should have a chance to get what they can and be moved up accordingly. I really had a good time with Andreas and respect his game. I didnt mean to indicated that they shouldnt have been where they were as far as levels. I also enjoyed our match against the other team even though Oscar got a little upset. I assume he was mad at the Ref for watching over our games.

You did a great job as leader/translator, thanks for being there because, you were needed. I plan to come to Spain some day to watch a FC Barcelona game, I will look you up. :)

found a hidden gem, ellis island cafe. good food and really good prices. behind ballys next to 7 eleven. only bad thing is a possible 20-40 minute wait depending on what time you go there.

louis

I had a good steak there for only $17. They also give you $10 free when you sign up for a card.

You would be more popular in my neck of the woods if you were planning on coming to Spain to watch Real Madrid. LOL
