Any D Series Mcdermott's or Meucci Originals for sale?

Sorry for the post in the Main Forum, wasn't getting much action in Wanted/For Sale section. Are there any D series Mcdermott cues or Meucci Originals out there for $350 or less? Would like to maybe purchase one if the price is right. Feel free to PM me or post on this thread.

There's a few on Ebay but you're not gonna find a decent C/D series for 300bux. Maybe 400ish and UP. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mc...ick-Pristine-Condition-C-Series-/282723581176 I've seen them in pawn shops for a lot less but you just have luck into one.

I turned down $1500 for my C-14 a few months back.

Good luck in your search.

If I had my choice of C or D model higher-end cues (disregarding design and looks), I'd pick a C model.

The C and D model McDermotts were, IMO, the best lines of cues they ever came out with.

I have a D-15 I would be willing to part with for CF shaft that fits either a Schon, or a McDermott 3/8 x 10 or Mcdermott QR

I see so many members talking about these older McDermotts, specifically the D line.

Just curious what makes them so special?

My current stable of cues has 3 McDermotts, but all new. They all play well, but I wouldn't mind selling 2 of them; however, never letting go of my G513.

The C's and D's were made when Jim ran the factory. Evan Clarke also worked there at one time iirc. Those cues had long, sharp cut pointed veneers. The most classic of all McD. cues.

I also have 1 OB break shaft and 1 Jacoby break shaft for trade (both in good condition) if anyone is interested.

Yes, that was back when Jim McDermott was there every day and you could talk to him on the phone about the cue you were ordering. I used to talk to him all the time.

I worked at a pool hall as a kid and, when I went back years later, they were selling a ton of McDermotts. The owner of the pool hall, who I used to work for, asked if I wanted one for half price and I jumped on it. He called Jim and I got one of the C models as they were being phased out for the newer D line in 1985.

I was playing with a custom cue that I had Richard Black make for me at the time and the C-14 played so good I sold the Richard Black and played with the McDermott for years and years. I still have it and it in pristine condition with a refinish from McDermott a few years back.

I have a beat up D-16 with a tiny shaft that I'm planning on listing on Ebay this week. pm me your email if you'd like a look first. They usually go for mid 300s in better shape than this one

Just to set expectations, I have a C-9 with some random guy’s name on it. I actually reached out to the guy, and never got a response. Anyway, I can’t imagine selling it for anywhere near $300. I doubt I’d sell it for $600.

Freddie <~~~ it’s because of Jim

I purchased a d-12 from ebay bout ten yrs ago, I asked the seller some history on the cue. He said it was his fathers cue who had passed away and that he did not play. He then stated that his father was a Straight Pool player and asked me if I ever heard of Straight Pool:eek:. couple months later I ran 25 racks in a row - without a miss in Straight Pool video available :) the cue plays and hits a ton.
