This is a cue I've had for some time now and always wondered about the history behind it. The cue was made by Dale Patten but I've no idea when. I know he used a lot of Spain blanks on his cue but from what I've been told this isn't one of them. I know the photos aren't great but anyone have a idea who might have made the forearm??

The forearm appears to be maple with Brazilian rosewood point with 4 veneers ,maple, light brown, red and dark brown.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Love Dale Patten's cues. Show a picture of the butt of the cue. Dale used quite a few Szamboti blanks. There isn't an inscription on the butt or hoppe ring with an RF. Looks like one of the Ritchie Florence line of cues.

Here's the butt of the cue,no inscription just a plain white delrin butt cap. I've also been told that isn't a szam blank which has really got me wondering who made it.

Hi,
I recently had some questions on a vintage Sailor cue, as to the forearm being made by Spain or not.
I wrote a a respectful email to Joel Hercek, and ask him when, and if he had the time, would he be so kind as to please look at the attached forearm pics, and give me his opinion, as to it being made by Burton Spain or not.
Well, much to my surprise, not that he wrote back, but the fact that first thing the next morning, there was a very cordial reply from Joel, with his opinion.
I accept his opinion over any others, seeing he worked with, and trained under Mr. Spain, and eventually bought his business.
I am sure he would do the same for you. Just be sure to get very detailed pics of the points, including the miters at the veneer ends.
