Any good games to play by yourself?

I practice everyday and running racks is fine, but I would like to start playing some games in addition to the normal practicing. Are there any games out there that you can play alone where you accumulate a score that you can compare to other players...just to see how you stand?

Play the ghost.

You can play any game by yourself. Just play both players :)

I always liked 6ball. Not sure if it is the correct name. But you stick 1 ball in the middle of every pocket. Which equals out to 6 pockets and 6balls.

You place the cue ball in the middle of the side pockets. Or dead middle of the table. You try to hit all 6 balls in with the least amount of shots.

For example:
You shoot the ball in one of the side pockets and put backspin on the ball to draw it to the other side pocket to knock that ball in. There you did 1 shot and made 2 balls.

Another is sort of a variation which will help you in 6ball. You put a ball in 2 corner pockets on the same end. 1 in each pocket. You place your Cue ball behind your breaking line. Anywhere you want. But most put it near the side rail. Sort of an upside down L shape.

You hit the ball putting english on it and try to hit the 1st ball in and have it ride the rail to hit the 2nd ball in. I found top english works best. It's also cool watching the cue ball constantly hit the foot rail before it hits the other ball.

And there is always Billiard golf. Which is harder than you might think.

straight pool, give yourself an ideal break ball, break up the pack and see how far you can go. If you miss, start over with the break ball. I always find straight pool to be very relaxing, because I can just run balls on cruise control.

Sounds like a variant of golf, frequently played on a snooker table.

You can also try bowlliards- you rack ten balls and count the game like bowling. Run all ten in one inning is a strike; 2 innings is a spare,etc...

The drivermaker game and equal offense also allow you to compare scores with other people.
