Any ideas about this one?

A fella sent me this cue to be cleaned up and refinished.
He said it was his fathers who got it from his father.
He thinks it is custom made by a cue maker in the north east in the 30's.
Nothing very special about the cue except for the joint.
.
Here is a photo ... does anyone know of any cue maker that made this style of piloted joint back in the 30's?

It was beat up and dirty.
I sanded it downto get rid of the old finish, replaced the damaged butt cap, ferrule (ivory but was in rough shape), and tip.
The cue obviously was used lot at one time.
I can not find any marks at all that might give a clue as to who made it.

I told the guy that if someone famous had made it the value might be destroyed if I refinish it.
He said he just wanted it as a player and as a family memento.

Amazingly it is almost dead straight with just the slightest wobble.

(taper wobble ... :D )
