Any New News?

Hi.

Here's the news. (not that you're seriously asking, but I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to rant)

KT created a lie that would only work on 4 year olds or pool players (both equally mature) by claiming that Fed Ex simply didn't ship the checks. Then he immediately switches to saying that since that happened, they figured to do the Ho deal and hold off on payment.

Also, he gave an interview with BD. It was pretty bad. KT lied and contradicted himself about 10 times. He used straw-mans and red herrings like they were going out of style. In addition to that, his tone was extremely uncertain and pessimistic. For example, if you listen to the audio (was on IPT website, and you were there personally) of his player's meeting, it seemed like the IPT was unstoppable and mega successful. Stocks, health care, TV deals, sponsors up our collective asses!

Then you read the BD interview and he cannot even guarantee a 2007 season will exist. IN FACT, he won't even say that Chicago will be played with 100% certainty. His tone was basically really negative. That indicated that it's OVER and he's either trying to have Ho bail him out and buy the sinking ship, or he's buying time legally to get out of this all.

Whatever it is - it stinks.

I was at a local pool hall recently that had an IPT player and a few qualifiers there. They are obviously not AZ billiards forum regulars (although a couple of them do have accounts) otherwise they'd realize the inconsistency and the number of lies already spread by the IPT.

They all believe the latest announcement about the "checks in the mail"....

That indicates to me that IPT isn't suffering as badly in the general pool world as it is on the internet. God bless the net, I love it. This is PROOF positive that the internet has improved the world because info gets around fast, and you can see it all right there. Listening to people not very informed on the mass of IPT inconsistencies and lies reminded me of the pre-internet days when people would buy bullsh1t wholesale.

Anyway, I don't know. I think there's a chance they might get paid. I'll believe it when I see it. But, as of right now, it looks bad. This latest BD interview does not paint a picture of a successful money making, sponsor signing, ass-kicking IPT that will pay out. That's a blow to the confidence of anyone that hopes the IPT will pay.

Bola Ocho...<<That indicates to me that IPT isn't suffering as badly in the general pool world as it is on the internet.>>

You are certainly correct. In fact, "the general pool world" in the U.S. is estimated to be around 40 million people... a large percentage of which have never heard of the IPT and a HUGE percentage of which have never seen an IPT match and 95% of which could care less whether the IPT succeeds or fails. (MY ROUGH GUESSES WITHOUT ANY SPECIFIC DATA).

Even the die hard BCA/APA League players don't care very much about pro events...IPT or otherwise. I have been to a LOT of BCA Vegas events and have been in the audience for matches where World Champions were competing and there were less than 100 people watching....sometimes less than 50. And that is an event where THOUSANDS of league players were IN THE SAME BUILDING AND NOT INVOLVED IN THEIR OWN MATCHES!!

Amateur pool is a consistently growing industry thanks largely to BCA and APA leagues and the efforts of the pool room owners sponsoring their own in-house tournaments etc.

But look at the TOTAL prize money available annually in pro tournaments, (excluding the IPT for obvious reasons) paltry event attendance, the few players who are making a living and highly mediocre TV ratings and the fact is that pro pool is a wounded puppy.

Sad, but true.

On the one hand, I APPLAUD the IPT for TRYING to juice the popularity of pro pool...and I genuinely think that all involved with the IPT WANTED it to be a huge success. We can argue until we are blue in the face about whether KT did it for the pool community or for his own personal gain...but a total of ZERO pro sports team owners do it for charity or the good of the sport so we can't criticize a profit motive.

I HOPE the IPT survives...with or without KT...a man I hold in very low regard but to Hell with him...as long as his money spends. But I THINK it will not survive...with or without him...but that doesn't mean I hope the IPT will fail. And I think that few posters here hope it will fail just to spite KT.

Jim

When I said that, I wasn't even talking about the BCA/APA and the amateur world. I was speaking of the A level and Semi-pro world who might have an interest in qualifying.

Most of these higher caliber players who play in local pro tours (like the FL pro tour) are largely ignorant of what is happening with the IPT and totally believe the "check is in the mail" because they have no chronological record of the various lies. Nor have they analyzed the contradicting and baseless things KT and the IPT has said since Reno.

If the IPT said they have a problem and they're working on it, and then they shut up since Reno - I'd be wayyyyyyy more confident. When they come out and tell about 5 different stories over the last 5 weeks all of which have proved false...that doesn't inspire confidence.

Now that's offensive...

Posting something like this is an insult to 4 year olds everywhere...

The only reason Fed-X would not ship something is that you account was on "Credit Hold" due to lack of payment to them. If the IPT account is past Due they will not ship until they get caught up.

They could just go to the post office and mail them cheaper.

It all sound like B.S. to me.

I heard Efren was paid, maybe cause he hangs out with those Phillipino gambler Henchmen types.:D

Yes, we got paid, I got my check from the IPT for 5000 and I'm not even on it.
