Gonna by in the Tulsa area this weekend. I've been to Magoo's a long time ago... hoping its still there.

Any other places to play? Any tourneys this weekend in the area?

Any areas that I should absolutely stay the FCK away from ;) Don't want to gamble, and don't want hassles.

Of course, if anyone wants to play some 8b, 9b or 1P, for say dinner or something, I'm game

How well do you tolerate cigarette smoke?
The last time I was in Magoo's, I thought I was going to have to call nine-hundred and eleven. :)

Magoos is ok. I don't know how well they're keeping their equipment up these days though. Ever since Jim and Laura sold the place, it's just gotten worse and worse. (As far as pool, that is)

T's is decent. Tight tables and has kind of an old time feel. It's a smaller room with about 4 9 footers, a snooker table, a 9' three cushion table, and some bar boxes. It's at 21st and Memorial where the Billiard Palace used to be. It's more of an action room.

I wouldn't go to Shiela's. Not worth it.

EQUIPMENT IS DEFINITELY AS GOOD AS ALWAYS...
still Simonis cloth too"
A lot of tourneys and league play...
not too much gambling though.
Magoos hosts Midwest 9 ball couple times each year-

Magoo's is still there and the tables are still good. They have a bunch of 7' Pro-Ams, several 9' Gold Crowns, and a section of 7' Valley bar tables. It's a good place as long as you don't mind coming out smelling like an ash tray.

Good to hear. I only threw that in there because the last time I was around there the cloth on the 9 footers looked almost yellow. Who knows how long it had been on there.

If they're keeping things up, good.

Been going in and outa there for 12 years and never seen such a thing. Last year was last time and have been planning on getting up there. The action just slowed when the old palace closed down had nothing to do with Jim selling out imop.

If you really want action it's there trust me. All I gotta do is make a call.

That and okc is just a stones throw they teleport over and vice versa often. If I were a god I'd push the two cities together lol

Nobody in Tulsa can play. Bet high and don't be skeered of nobody. You got this.

:)

I was only talking about equipment upkeep. I lived there when the new owner took over and the difference in the way he maintained the tables was night and day. I haven't been there in a while though so maybe he's started maintaining the tables a little better.

You're right about the action. There's almost always someone around there who will play if you come in from out of town.

New owner? It was still the same people who were always working there or at magoos 2 or at the palace. John Chen, Justin. And quite a few others. I believe holly was still there as well.

Owners don't "take care" of the tables just saying

I had forgot about the old Palace. I really liked that place.
Does anyone remember the Casa Bonita restaurant that was a few blocks up the street from the Palace? Very good Mexican style food (all you could eat) in a unique setting.

I do like Mexican food, as does the family. However, smoke filled pool rooms I can take a pass on, if they have working "smoke eaters" it's tolerable for a few hours. Visiting my sister. I'm a great, great uncle now, what to see the newest member of the clan ;)

You will probably like Magoos. It doesn't get smokey until night time. It's not bad during the day, but you will still smell like an ash tray when you leave. LOTS of friendly folks around there.

Casa Bonita is long gone. A New Mexican restaurant was there in its place...don't know if it's still open. It's been about 4 years since I ate there. The food was better but they completely changed the atmosphere. :(

Magoo's at least have a "pro shop" so I can sell them some of my wares ;)

Foods still good as ever. Last I was there. Yes smoke will smell your clothes but the ceilings are 40ft talk about it's not going to bother you I'd say rj unless your some hard core asthmatic. Plenty of people I knew up there couldn't stand smoke and never bothered really.

Atmosphere changed with smoking bans. Around 07? Removed front few tables and built stage and have bands and keroke and such. It's no club though like this piss poor eddies in lft.

But meignh the palace was the stone cold nuts lol

So, a smoking ban went into effect in 2007? If so, it should not be a problem, correct ?

You can still smoke in there. That's why palace closed...no smoking and pifffff there went the business. They changed the atmosphere at magoos just enough esp on weekends so they bring more alcohol revenue.

El comprehende?

Lol
