Any pool instructors in Minnesota?

I've finally decided to enlist the help of a pool instructor to help me with my stroke, technique, position play, etc.

How much do good instructors typically charge per lesson, assuming each lesson is two hours? Of course, I would cover table time as well and payment in cash on the spot. Ballpark figure? I'm just south of the Twin Cities, so Shooters will probably be where to learn.

Might want to reach out to TinMan here. Like I said in another thread, if my kid ends up going to school up there, I will spend some time at shooters. But I will probably also get in touch with TinMan for some instruction.

Somewhere between $50 and $150 for two hours of one-on-one instruction, would be my guess. I charge in that ballpark. Some instructors connected to a room give free seminars. Others charge $100 and up per hour. There have been celebrity instructional clinics (hotel included) around $2000 for two and a half days.

Different instructors have different strengths. Some are glad to help you fix your fundamentals. Others have no interest in that and want to work on tactics, mental preparedness, and such things as that. Some do video analysis. Some have handouts. Some teach only by example.

To answer the who question, here is the list of PBIA certified instructors. It looks like there are three in Minnesota.

Major rooms often have an associated "house pro" who gives lessons.

Look, no offense but 3 recognized instructors nowhere near Minneapolis compared to Tin Man…. To be fair I haven’t taken a lesson from any of the three on that list or Tin Man. But given what the OP said I’d look at a guy at shooters. Or Tin Man. Or Jimmy Wetch whose room I have never been to. Or Joe Villalpando people have mentioned here recently who is in a suburb of Minneapolis. Just saying.

CRs Sports lists instruction as one of their services, Shooters does not. I’m guessing if you talked to the owner or manager of Shooters, they would have a good idea of your best options.

Josh Burbul, Demetrius’ friend and road partner, also does lessons. From my experiences with him, he is a pleasant personality and a 700+ Fargo. I believe Josh does short sessions addressing specific issues of your choice.

It’s 98 plus all weekend, I’m doing 54 at the Ponds on Sunday. Not gonna be cold
The worst of both. Hot in the summer, way too cold in the winter. I was there for the Super Bowl several years ago, WOW was it cold. I only thought it was cold in Michigan. Stupid NFL putting a Super Bowl in Minneapolis, WTF.

Anyways, I had plenty of action at Jimmy’s 😁

Hey Josh! Thanks for the response! I am very interested in learning from you. I must tell you, though, I play in beginners or open handicapped 9-ball. I've won the beginners tournaments a few times, and made it to the "semi-finals" for the open, but I was getting the 7 and 8 + a game ahead lol. Just wanted to give you a point of reference. I'll be in touch soon!
