Any thoughts on Viking x Collaboration

What is up with these fantastic looking Viking cues by Carmeli and hall of famer cue maker Paul Drexler. I love them and does anyone had an opportunity to play with one?

So designed by cue maker and produced by Viking.

Carmeli Blue Diamond by Viking
Paul Drexler Limited Edition Water Cue By Viking (50 Made)

The marketing says "crafted in collaboration", it does not say it was designed by PFD. I would be pretty confident he just laid out the inlays, points, and rings, and I am not trying to diminish that. It would have been cool if he signed them though.

The cues "hand signed" by Fedor "The Ghost" Gorst are sold out.

They don't say the Carmeli cues are signed either. They say the "aesthetics" were provided by Carmeli.

I would suspect they all would play like any other Viking with the same shaft.

Nice cues, nice project on the part of Viking. Avoids the whole "tribute" or "clone" thing, and should be good for the respective cue makers etc.

good question: Yes - I spoke with Paul all about this 4 cue limited series with Viking. The PFD / Vikings cues feature the same internal cored construction that Paul uses in his cues (laminated marine maple). So, in essence they feature PFD type of construction, but butt taper and shaft taper are Viking. Hope this helps.

The AC cues are some of the best looking Vikings I've ever seen. Been eyeing them for a while but haven't seen one in person yet unfortunately. They do seem to use the same modified 3/8x10 pin that Ariel uses and not the standard Viking pin, so they're not just normal Viking cues with someone else's aesthetics, they seem to be made taking at least some of the construction cues from the original maker.

That's what I'm thinking too.
