that's a model 803 . is there any red dot on the joint collar ? if yes, it's an older version of model 803 , used for "small games" aka straight rail, balkline. (some "later" 803 don't have the red dot on the collar)
thanks to have posted this pic : remembrance of my youth, i've played with this model during 15years... at this period, the adam shafts where excellent for small games..

I will certainly find out if there is a red dot. My friend recently bought a house with the carom table already in the basement. He does not play and i am looking for a new carom playing cue. You have a lot of experience, how would you rate the cue and what do you think about price?
Thanks for the help

Anyway, that's an adam 803. 30 years ago, in my area (France), the 801, 803, and the high-end 901 ,902&903 Adam cues where famous , if not the best avaible in my area ! the adam shafts where excellent in the late 80's/early 90s.
most of those cues were bought to play small games, so i would expect the weight to be beetween 470g to 490g.

it should be a very good cue to play small games , and worth to be played ! i dunno in the USA, but in europe you can still find new shafts for this model (wood pin) .
About the price, in this shape , if the shaft is straight and not too skinny (>10.5mm) , i would buy it for 120 to 150€ at max. or 120$ to 150$ at max.
Well, that would be indeed the price of a new/replacement shaft , but , to me, that's an awesome "old school" straight rail cue...

in France it's rare to find old 803's for sale, or they sell verrrry quickly , at a cheap price usually. Because many players tend to keep them preciously as "souvenir" of their young years :) . I still own my old 803 and it won't be for sale.
