Anybody know Bobby Hernandez?

Bobby was my friend too. He spent many days in my poolroom, The Cue Ball, in Bakersfield in the 1970's. We played a few times on the big table and not so many on the bar table (he was too good). I put him up there with Peter Gunn and Junior Rodgers as one of the best "undercover" bar table players. Only Sergio would play him even among the Mexican champions. Bobby was not a big man, only average in size, but had the strength of a giant! All those years working in the fields, lifting heavy bags of crops, made him into a well muscled man.

We spoke last year about the need to protect ourselves, our families and our homes. I told him I keep a Walther .22 LR pistol by my bed at night in case of a break in. He asked my why the small gun and I told him I can shoot it rapidly with no gun jerk. Accuracy was more important to me than lethality. He laughed and told me his home defense weapon was a .22 Mag. It's got a lot more punch. He's much stronger than me too and can handle it. We talked at length about the old days and people we both knew, good and bad. Bobby was real!
