Moving 14.1 Up
Ron - I think what you are proposing is great, but I doubt anybody will care enough to spend any time on programming.
Sean - I didn't think it possible to have an extremist view on how to list the forum topics. I think extremist is a bit extreme, no?
My post was admittedly a little snarky and meant with a bit of humor. But, C'MON let's get real. Look at The Action Room. I randomly looked at today's posts only. Of the seven posts, FOUR of them are about betting on football and baseball. Obviously this particular forum topic has gone in a direction not intended by the moderators of this billiard website. All I'm asking is that somebody bump 14.1 up a little, maybe even just one place so that at least it appears on the main page without scrolling down. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Now, while I'm on it, I still maintain that 14.1 should be placed right below the Main forum. 14.1 WAS pool for a good 75 years, and now there are people making great strides at bringing it back. Let's face it, straight pool is the soul of billiards. When people talk about hall of famers and the glory days of pool, The Hustler, Ames and on and on, all of those guys were playing straight pool. So I don't think it elitist to expect that maybe the 14.1 forum be bumped up even as high as the second category. I think it would probably attract a few more hits here and there, and more fans of 14.1 is good for everybody. Look at the fantastic post by Steve Lipsky who talked about his incredible break and run out. He also talked about his discussion with two of the world's best players relative to how you should carry yourself mentally in a competition. That's great insight that you just normally don't have access to. How many people in the Main forum have no idea that thread exists, and are missing out for not doing so? Move 14.1 up, and more people will see great threads like Steve's.
Vote YES on proposition 14.1!
Anyway, I didn't intend to become an evangelist on the topic, I just didn't want to have to scroll down!
