Kamui tips sliced thin?

I have come to find that most all of the better players you will see prefer their tips this way, super thin, CD, and SVB comes to mind as well. Apparently you can get more action on the ball? It kind of makes sense too, to have as little as possible between the shaft and the cue ball.

Has anyone else out there noticed any difference between having a chunky tip, and a thin one?

A pro I know ordered a custom cue and told the cuemaker to put a Kamui tip on it!
He was upset when the cuemaker sliced it down !
Cuemaker said alot of the other pro's are ordering them that way!
Wow with the cost of the tips you wonder?
