First game streaming at the Open - Frost vs. McNaughton. Both are playing bad, but Scott in particular is in a deep coma. He's acting really odd, like he's ill, or under the influence. Very bizarre, he's missed about a dozen shots already and it's only in the 10th rack so far. On some of his misses the commentators are calling safe, out of kindness I think, because he obvoiusly cut at the ball. Never seen such a meltdown from a top player like this display.

I take that back. This is worth twice the money for the pure comedy. The announcers are awesome.

Funniest line was after Frost played a safe and missed catching a rail by three feet. Danny D. says, "Well, now Scott has done every inept thing you can do."

Cruel, but so true.

BTW 9-7 Frost now.

Everybody struggles with concentration here and there, especially when playing against somebody below your level. Everybody knows you're not supposed to lose concentration because of the caliber of your opponent, but that is often easier said than done

From what I heard on the stream, Scott said he had not hit a ball for 2 ½ months prior to this event. Apparently he is in school/training for a job as a blackjack dealer.

That, of course, leads to the question of why he would even enter the event and waste his or some backer's money if he felt he had no chance to play well. But I'm ignorant as to how quickly Scott gets back in stroke after a layoff. Maybe it's quick. Maybe he is using the Open as a warmup for Bonus Ball.

But, still, he won. Maybe he'll play better in the next match.

To be fair, Scott isn't exactly known for his 9 ball play. Is he still a great player? Of course, but even if he didn't take a break, I'd put his chances at winning this event at close to zero.
