Has anyone been to Port City Billiards in Brunswick, GA. If so, what goes on in there...any tournaments, action, etc.

The owner of that place also owns Park Avenue Billiards in OP, FL...which is where I work, but he doesn't talk much about his other pool hall. The only tournaments I know of in there are the Texas Hold 'Em Poker ones.

Anyone know anything else!?

I stopped in there a few times about a year ago. I know they had a tournament the first Saturday of every month. They also had an all women tournament. Haven't been in there since though. I'll be going back through next week. I know they had 12 I think Big G's, and a few bar tables.

Sounds like somewhere I need to stop in...all girls tournament!!! Do you know if that first Saturday tournament was handicapped or open?
 
Where to play in Jacksonville, Fl.?

I will be taking a business trip to Jacksonville Beach, Florida 25 April to 28 April. Can you recommend a good place to rent a table for practice time? Any tournaments close by on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday night? I would appreciate any suggestions, as I don't have a lot of time in the day to scout out a good spot. thanks!

If you are staying in Jacksonville Beach, there is a pool hall on 2nd street, but it's a bunch of kids in there usually. Also, on Beach Boulevard, which runs perpindicular to the coast...about 8 miles away from the Beach there's a place called SiX Pockets. Not to bad, but I personally don't like their tables. Then the next closest place is UBC, on University Boulevard. As far as action and tournaments go. Park Avenue Billiards has a open 9 ball tournament every Sunday...Usually pretty sucessful turnouts. Also, Park Avenue is the central place for ation...located in Orange Park, about 30-40 (depending on how fast you drive) from the beach. UBC also has a little action, mostly between regulars though. They also have a 3 ball tournament on Saturday nights.

PS. I work at Park Avenue in Orange Park. You can find my picture in the "Face on it" forum. If you come in there I can give you the scoop on who to play, etc... as long as you know the keep quiet drill about who says something to you!! Catch me??

It was an open tournament with a $30 entry I believe. It's been awhile since I've been in there though, so I don't know if they still have it. I'll be going back through there next month and may stop in.
