Are these tables any good? The prices seem very good. Im not sure what to look for or what to avoid in a table.

In the most recent edition of InsidePOOL magazine, the July-August 2005 issue, there is a feature story entitled "Pool Table Review," the Editor's Choice for 2005. There is a description of various table brands, to include Diamond, Olhausen, Connelly, DLT Billiards, Drawknife, and Brunswick, as well as pricing and contact info.

The Olhausen Huntington looks like the one they used at the Skins Billiard Championship. The Diamond Pro-Am is the one they use at most high-profile tournaments.

If I was from the State of Texas, I would love to have the Lone Star, a variation of the Drawknife Billiards' Glacier table, featuring six distincitve 5-pointed stars designed with an Old West style. Kind of cool-looking (IMO).

The most inexpensive one featured in the article is the Brunswick Metro with a suggested retail price of $2,749. The most expensive one is another Brunswick table, the Marquette, which goes for a suggested retail price of $23,499.

There are quite a few great tables to choose from, depending on your tastes. Personally, I like the Diamond Pro-Am because that's the table I see most often on the tournament trail. However, the old-school players would probably desire a nice used Gold Crown. I heard that a used GC-III is an excellent table and a good bargain as opposed to a brand-new GC-IV.

JMHO, FWIW, and I hope this helps a little! :p

Thanks Jam for the info.
It seems there are alot of companies offering solid hardwood tables with oversized, 3 piece 1", slate. They say the slate is hardwood backed, K-66 rails etc, etc etc.

Appears to be all the right materials and construction but the Prices are so low I am suspitious.
