Anyone clean their tips on the carpet before putting it back in the case?

I use my Jack Justis case everyday but don’t want chalk marks. My local hardware store has a large selection of chair & table leg caps so I bought a fist full of the proper size to use & give away to friends. The caps are playable so they fit a variety of tip sizes & don’t mark up my ivory ferrules. I’ve seen similar caps being sold in Billiard Magazines for outrageous prices but I pay less than $0.50 each. They have kept inside of my case looking brand new.

The hall I play at (or at least did play at; they are in the process of moving, and it's taking forever) had signs that anyone caught cleaning chalk off their tip on the carpet would be subject to a $100 fine or a ban from the premises.
Just when I thot I'd seen it all, something like this pops up. You wouldn't want to do that where I play bcuz your tip might come back w something on it you don't want. Carpet's ratty, nasty and 40 years old. Has so many buckles, tears and humps in it you can bust your ass if not careful walking around the tables. My feet have gotten tangled in that crap a few times. I wouldn't wipe my tip on it on a bet!! That, and the other players there would let you hear about it too. That's just low class. No respect for the place you play. Even if it's old and dirty. I don't do that in your house, please don't do it in mine.

Bag of 6 was $1.98 at Lowe's. Many diff sizes. Check the drawers in the 'specialty fasteners' section.

That's a little extreme, but I can understand their wanting their customers to help keep the place clean and not be inconsiderate jerks.
