Hi all,

Thought I would see if there were any cuemakers or repair guys doing business in the Southwest Houston area?

I used to do a lot of repair work 10 or 15 years ago, and was thinking about getting back into it again. Nights and weekends type of thing, I do have a full time job.

I wanted to see if there were any repairmen in the area, and thought this may be a good place to start. I've asked at a couple of the billiard supply places, and they knew of no one. One place had a small repair lathe for tips and ferrules, but they weren't eager to take on work, actually encouraging me to get into it again. Said he wished he knew of a good person close by to send work to, etc.

Anyway... let me know if you know of anyone? I'm based out of Sugar Land, so would be looking at SL, Stafford, Missouri City, Rosenberg, Richmond areas.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff,

That could be your ticket right there!! The shop has got a lathe which they don't seem to want to use - will they sell it or let you use it? Same shop seems to have demand for repairs that they don't want to service - that's the hard part IMHO getting work.

I'm not from the area, so have no idea about cue repairman, but it sounds like you found a market.

Good Luck!!

I'm in Freeport, a bit southeast of Houston, and I know there's not even a competent tip installer near this area that I've found. The place that I went to have my ferrule and tip replaced absolutely butchered the shaft. I won't even buy chalk from them anymore. Everyone in this area either sends stuff off or goes to Tri-Cup where supposedly there's a guy with a decent repair setup in his van that travels around. I had to repair my shaft as best I could with a drill and sandpaper. So if you want to get into building and repairing cues, the market locally is there. If you could go mobile and travel to various league areas every so often with an announced schedule you'd clean house.

Jerry oliveri south side can do repairs.....roger Allen north side.roger is good for on site work....wouldn't send stuff home with him...and soon we are getting mike gulaysas sorry spelling to the Houston area....they are out there but I will be using mike for all my repairs as he is on time and does A great job....

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was at a league play last night in Stafford asking around with the same results. I knew Jerry was down in Pearland, north Houston is 45 minutes from me... Well I take that back, it's 45 minutes to Bogies in light traffic :) So I don't think there will be any toe stepping there.

I didn't know Mike Gulyassy was headed our way!
