Anyone else prefer very hard tips??

Which cues are giving people 2 extra diamonds of draw?
Someone above mentioned his Revo allows him a couple diamonds extra max draw. Coulda been the Mike Massey power draw thread? Not sure, but it was mentioned here and seems to echo the sentiments of some league 5s and 6s I've worked with who also report better spin quality (i.e. more spin for same speed, same contact point) with their CF shafts.

Say for experiments sake, should I set up a few shots and draw the heck out of the cueball or shoot medium expecting to come back a foot or so?

I can most certainly get more draw when using my CF shaft than any of my wooden ones. That isn't really important to me, however what is important to me is being able to get the draw (or any action really) I need without having to stroke it so hard (compared to my wood shafts).

Dr. Dave says LD and CF do not impart more spin. I shoot with a Joss with maple shaft 12.5 mm with a Triangle. Month or two ago I bought a Revo 12.4 for it with HOW soft tip. I could draw equal distances with both shafts. I set up shots to watch the CB come off a rail and contact adjacent rail with same stroke with both shafts to gauge spin. No difference. I sent the Revo back for a refund. $500 was not worth it for no performance value. For the folks who are going to say "but but but lower deflection" Screw deflection. Learn your cue and it doesn't matter. I watched Ronnie Alcano shoot with a 314-3 with inside English and miss the entire OB. LOL. I shot for years with 314. Felt deader than AOC's brain.. I bought a Players sneaky Pete with an Elkmaster to see if I could play with a $100 cue. I play better with the Players than I do my Joss. Lol. Still like my Joss better though.

if you get an extra 2 feet of draw all your other shorter draw shots which you use frequently and rely on, will be less accurate.

maybe enough to make you play noticeably worse.

From tip firmness to golf clubs. Just because somebody isn't a professional caliber doesn't mean they can't enjoy a soft tip over a hard tip. I am probably an average pool player, but I do enjoy a carbon fiber shaft. Am I good enough to get all the benefits from carbon fiber? Probably not, but I still like it.
Benefits? What's that? they look neat on a charcoal colored butt?

The only benefit is you just payed 550 for a shaft so you dedicate yourself to practicing and playing a little more. There is no benefits to the player. It's all mental.
the company making the product gets the benefitsm. better profit margins and a very consistent and repeatable product.

I'm thinking, longer taper and added stiffness = more er...
