Anyone ever heard of Marlin cues?

Hello,
I know most people here aren't really interested in starter/beginners cues but I've just bought one as a present for my brother. He's just learning to play and I think it will do nicely. OK, so it's not a Southwest or a Szamboti but it has a real Irish linen wrap and it looks nice as far as I'm concerned. Anyway the cue is a "Marlin" and I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of them at all? I know it's an import obviously (I only paid the equivalent of $30 including a soft case and next day delivery for it brand new, though) but I'd like to get a bit of background information if anyone has any! The logo is a fish design (surprise surprise!) with Marlin written underneath

Thanks as always for taking the time to read this,
Chris (Chrstc).

Alot of the asian import cues are made in the same factory.... could very well be the same folks putting out Players, Lucasi etc.

Hello,
Thanks very much for the reply. I was hoping that someone would be able to say that they were definitely made by Sterling or Dybior etc etc so that I could then contact a particular company and try and get some specific info. The problem seems to be that the companies use different brand names in different territories anyway, though! Over here a lot of the BCE/Kruger designs (in the Oliver Ortmann series) are actually sold as Players cues in the US and that sort of thing makes tracking down any info even more difficult as Marlin cues may never have even been marketed outside of Europe I suppose.
It certainly looks like a very well made cue for the cash as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure it'll do the job it was bought for!

Thanks for your time,
Chris (Chrstc).

Show us the wrap, forearm and joint and I think we could possibly give a better opinion. Oh and shaft and ferrule also. $30 with soft case and shipping is usually way to cheap to exspect any sort of quality.

Hello Rackem,
Thanks for the help again- you helped me out before when I posted another of these cues I was considering. The reason the cue is cheap is that these are apparently a discontinued line and the guy selling them had only 2 left. He said that as he couldn't find any info on them himself he was willing to sell for the price I indicated. Anyway here are some more pics.

Thanks again,
Chris (Chrstc).
