Anyone got an Omen Cue?

Ranger,

Yeah, its "cocobolo."
In any case, beautiful cue! Thanks for showing the pics to us!

I purchased a plain Jane (cocobolo) Omen cue a few years ago and immediately loved it! I call it "a poor man's Southwest". I don't know if it was due to the joint (wood to wood) or the extra length (59 inches), but I played 1 to 2 balls better with it right from the get-go. The wood to wood joint gives a terrific hit and "feel" of the cue ball and because of this I don't think I will ever go back to steel jointed cues.

I have owned and played with Falcons(2), Schons(2), Dufferins(2) and Malis previously and have briefly used Meuccis, Mikkelsens and Predators and have found nothing that plays as good as my Omen.

My only concern with the Omen cues is the 3/8 x 11 joint pin. These are extremely rare around my neck-of-the-woods and only one other person in the region has an Omen cue. I only have one shaft for my cue and if I something happened to it I would have to send my whole cue to Peter to have work done or a new shaft made. This means I would be without my "playing cue" for a month or more. I suggest you order 2 shafts with your cue to prevent this problem.

Having said this, I am sure you will enjoy your Omen cue and will have no regrets.

I have an Omen and I don't think it hits anything like my southwest cue. Am I crazy???

Lol. No...
Just fortunate enough to have the experience necessary to feel the difference, I'm sure... :D

And would you mind trying to describe the difference in hit a little bit?
'Cuz I've actually heard some not so great things about the hit on an Omen from another AZ member...
Wondering if maybe you description will be similar to his...

(And yes, I know hit is all relative. Lol. Don't we all.)

Well, I put the Omen in my case tonight and will hit with it tomorrow unless I get sidetracked with New Year Eve nonsense :D

I been playing with Pete's cues on and off for decades. Currently I have an OMEN B/J and my OMEN Howitzer playing cue <my specs which are huge> in my case. I've owned Searings and Szamboti's and I am not comparing them to Pete's cues...it just the cue I choose to run with. Good luck

Here is what I think, for whatever it is worth.

Omen is a good cue for the money, and great customer service. Very nice fellow to deal with.

BUT...an Omen is not a Southwest or Searing, they are quite different in my opinion.

If you buy an Omen, you should buy it because you like it, not because you think it might hit like a Southwest for one third of the price (I am not saying anyone here is, but I have met lots of people who did).
