anyone have a opinion on this cnc

The nice thing about the K2 is flexibility. You set up for more than 1 op with out removing the fixtures and go between the 2 or 3 setups.
I have no idea how they are in actual real time though. Just my first thoughts on the difference between the two.

any input would be great also any other recomendations on cnc equipment would be great i have a friend that is leaning towards putting together a nice sized shop and he asked me which cnc machine to get and i said the cue monster first but i figured i would see what else was out there.

Trent, does your friend have any cnc experience? I am not sure I would make that large investment unless I did. If so then there are several alternatives depending on how deep the pockets are. I don't like the round rails on that machine. Those bearings tend to give too much. Linear rails would be a better choice. For that price it should have linear rails. If he has no experience then he should buy from someone willing to help him out as there is a large learning curve on these.

he doesnt have alot of experience i have some and i went to school to learn cad for cars so i feel like i could thumb through it with minor help and i will be overthere helping him out alot im sure.

as far as deep pockets??? not really sure he mentioned taking out a small bussiness loan. :eek: last i heard 20,000 for machinery and more for material.

$20,000 is not alot if you want to fill a shop. Lets say 10,000 for a cheap Techno cnc, 5,000 for a lathe, 500-1000 for a good bandsaw, 600 for a surface planer, and well you see what I mean. He will want to work on the items needed to make a basic cue. If he where to say use the cnc for tapers then it would be useful. I doubt he will be cutting inlays out of the gate. He may even want to look for a good used lathe. The lathe is the work horse in my shop.

i believe the plan is a couple basic deluxes and a full size metal lathe, a cue monster and a taper machine, and making a finishing station.

full size metal lathes are easy to come by here in columbus ohio. usually for 1-2 thousand for a decent one.

should be possible for 20,000 or so.

i was just mainly looking into other aspects of cnc, i see you have a breeze for sale. how do you think it compares to the cue monster??

The breeze is just a fancy name I gave Lee for the Taig. You can buy this machine off of the shelf. The Storm that I have for sale is constructed from 80/20 extrusion. This machine should far out perform the cue monster. The cue monster runs on an obsolete dos platform. This can be upgraded of course but there are other limitations to this machine. I do not have one nor have I ever run this machine. However I have designed the Storm to perform faster and more accurate with larger capacity and travel. Please keep in mind this is not a sales pitch. Also be aware that if a Storm machine was not purchased from me, I will not offer any support.
If you decide that you wish to purchase a Storm machine, please keep this in mind.

Sorry, my prev. post seems too harsh. I was not suggesting that you buy my machine. I am not sure your friend is at a good point to buy a cnc machine yet. If you guys are determend to buy a machine then I believe that the Storm is a good machine for a good price. If you decide to buy a machine and want the best bang for the buck than this is the way to go. If money is no issue than Techo is the way to go. If you do buy a cnc machine then ask alot of questions from whom you buy it from. Some will support their machines better than others.
