Has anyone heard anymore about the new pool room in Crofton. Forget his name but it was something like that, he was the guy trying to have tournaments seven days a week? He seemed all hyped up back in the spring all ND was posting then just disappeared. Just curious, don't wanna just drive by for there to be nothing there ( 45 min one way for me ). Anyway hope he is doing well and pool hall is thriving but have to wonder.......

I doubt you can even have leagues 7 days a week unless you have 2 different league brands in the same place. It's tough enough to get a good weekly going in most places with over 6-10 players once a week.

Never did get that, you have a room with like 40 league players, sometimes more. Of those maybe 2-5 show up for a tournament in the same room. I think it goes to show that most league players need to lean on their league handicap to not get their egos hurt and avoid real competition.

Well I think he was trying to do leagues too, but he was talking about having actual tournaments everyday. Something along the lines of taking a % out of each then having bigger tournaments with that money monthly or something like that??? Not much he said made a lot do sense to me but he was at least giving it a go. He just disappeared, which I assume is the same that happened to his pool room.

But as far as leagues go, the bar I used to shoot out of they had like 30+ teams 6 nighats a week ( except Friday which was the 9 ball tourney ) and they were very successful ( with only 3 tables ) lol.

Yeah, great point, and that is why I think that handicapped tournaments are so much more popular, and get 10 times the participation. C players are never going to show up for an Open A level tournament, with no handicap. The C players need to feel they have a chance at winning, or they are not going to waste their time trying.

I think that sounds like a good idea. Maybe 3 $15 per person tournaments a week, and take out $5 per player (each time they play), and then have a 16 man tournament once a month with all of the $5 per player collection. Think about it. If 10 players showed up 3 times a week, that would be $150 per week. So, that would be $600 in the pot for the monthly tournament, and you could even add to that (if the players agreed), and make the 16 qualifiers pay $20 per person, and pay out the top 3 finishers.
