Anyone live near McDermott production plant?

true, yet we are talking about warpage straight out of the factory so poor user hadling is not in effect here.
As stated... nature of the wood can cause issues... not limited to user handling.
I have witnessed kiln dried wood warp overnight for no reason or warp years later.

Although I really like cues and appreciate and love nice woodwork, if I had to buy a pool cue today, I would probably look into a composite cue. I will look for performance, durability and consistency over looks.

You must not see many Schons. I own two, including my every day player, and both are not what you would call straight. I had to send my LTD back as it came from the factory so warped that the tip left the table.

I have a GS series McDermott with their standard maple shaft, I would take it any day over a G-Series shaft.
Everyones experience is different. I presently own 4 beautiful Schons, all straight as the day I bought them.
Also had a one off Schon built in 82 when they were first starting out. Went to their place and they had some different cues laying out on the pool table. Told them what features I wanted from a few different ones and they built it. Also after picking it up, asked to have another shaft made.
Played with that cue till 86 or 87 then just packed it in the case as I got married and my wife didn't want me playing pool.
That cue sat in a case till about 7 or 8 yrs ago when I sold it to a collector in Minneapolis. Cue and shafts were perfectly straight all these years.
