Anyone part of a challenge ladder group - i.e. Top 30 - Top of the Ladder - etc.

Never heard of that - guess I've led a sheltered pool life. Are there also buy-ins and payouts from that?

Yes, but the wager is between them and has nothing to do with us. There is a fee (similar to the Solatto app) for each match, those fees will fund payouts to top player(s), added money for tournaments (this will be the biggest benefit we're thinking), travel fund for bigger tournaments, etc. The key is we're not greedy so we want most of the money to go back to the players so they can see the benefit.

A quick update for those that were interested.

They've wrapped up the tournaments and we're now getting our first list of 100 people. Those people will get an invitation email where they can click a link to join or click a link to decline. Once those are all in we'll compile the ordered list and get things going. I've got the website up (very basic) and we're working on payment setup now. I'm hoping we can roll this out this Sunday but that's optimistic and it will probably take until the end of next week.

We started registration Monday at 6PM. Right now we have 35 paid members and a dozen or so others that have registered but not yet paid. Registration is open until Friday at 11:59PM. We're hoping to get 40 paid members and would be ecstatic to get 50.

The ranked list will be published on Saturday at 5PM and we've decided to setup the first round of matches to help people through the process. Basically, once everyone is ranked we'll take the bottom guy, let's say #40, and have him challenge the 39th spot, then 38th will challenge 37th, etc. Then all they have to do is arrange game and location. The goal is to get people playing right away.

Registration closed at midnight Friday and we ended up with 81 initial members! We spent about 7 hours Saturday going through the list, finalizing a few rules and misc stuff and we went live around 6pm. We scheduled the first 40 matches and some of them (three that I know of) have already been completed!

So far so good. We've had a few naysayer's but it's all good, they'll either come around or find or their own thing :)

Here's the website. We do most of the stuff on FB but we post all the rules and list on the website because we're trying not to force people onto FB at this point, we'll see how that plays out in the end.

If you're on FB look up Boise Top of the Trees and join to see what it's all about :)

Seems you are making progress on the new venture. Nice job!

Yeah, we're moving right along, pretty fun stuff! We're totally stoked at how many people joined right away. Now we just need to deliver on our promises to keep it going :)
People are hot to get out and play! Been on "house arrest" far to long now!

Well, things have progressed a bit more. We're now up to 120+ members and have outgrown FB, that actually happened in the first few days, and have moved to a new format - XenForo (what you're logged into right now ;)). I purchased the software last Monday and whipped a core structure of what we want and have begun customizing it for our needs. Ultimately, we're going to integrate some different stuff so people can challenge, accept, submit results, etc. all on their own without our interaction. Right now we have registration open and matches should go live on the forum this Sunday!

Anywhoo, go check it out. I took the front page down for now because it was boring and only duplicated the information on the forum and then I'd have to update two places at once and that gets real old real fast. I'm hoping to get the front page up and running in a week or so.

Just click the link to the forums and check it out and let me know what you think.
