Anyone play at "Dutch's" pool hall in millington??

Saw the post on Military pool players and remembered my own starting point. I went to a place in Millington Tn. called Dutch's. Most of the action was just nickle dime stuff between the sailors stationed at Millington NAS. Dutch had a partner they called Nubs, due to a couple of missing fingers on his cue hand. The two of these characters also owned a few bars around town as well.....the Longbranch, Nubs place, and some underwear bar....(nudity was not allowed in millington, but you could dance in your underwear) The time frame here is in the late 60's and early 70's. If any of you were in the Navy at that time.....and trained in millington....we may have met then......Dan
 
I was in Millington in 1963 (NATTC). I only remember playing pool in Millington twice; most of the time, we headed for Memphis any time we had off. I have no idea what the name of the pool hall was.

Funny coincidence with your sig's Kennedy joke. The first time I played in Millington was the day after Kennedy was killed. They cancelled all liberty that day (Friday), so when they let us off the next day, we stayed in Millington instead of going to Memphis. A friend of mine (Bill Sharkey from San Fransicso) and I went to this crummy little pool halll he knew of. It was a shabby little place with four (maybe six) tables. Ten cents per cue, and considering the condition of the place, that was too much (especially when you're only earning $70 a month).

That had to be Dutch's place....it was the only hall in Millington. I was in Hawaii during the Kennedy fiasco.....But I was stationed there when MLK was killed.....liberty was not only cancelled, all hands had to report for Shore Patrol duty to assist the Nat Guard in peacekeeping duties....Dan

Thank you for this info, and your previous post here as well. For some unknown reason .....your post describing places to play and league dates has disappeared. Maybe just a glitch in the system, but i would appreciate it very much if you could send me a PM repeating that information....Dan
