Ive been bidding on a few KC cues on Ebay trying to grab a couple to try them out and maybe sell some of them , so im just curious if anyone on here has played with one and if so waht did you think of the HIT and LOOKS of the cue and give me a example of what you might compare it to ( Joss, schon, mcdermot viking Walmart LOL) Any help would be helpful.

thanx in advance

They play awful. I would compare the hit to a wet noodle. Even for the price they are a rip-off. You can't even break with them.

The one I hit with felt alright to me. It wasn't anything special, kind of like a house cue. However, the worksmanship is the worst I've ever seen in a pool cue. Even though the points are stickered on, they weren't even stickered on properly. If you're bidding on a couple of KCs, it is probably better if you pooled the money together and buy something slightly more expensive.

ps. my friend's KC arrived in a tube with absolutely no padding inside. The shaft took a major dent during the shipping process.

They suck. Ok for a beginner. Don't waste your money. Save up $300 and buy a nice Predator sneaky pete.

Well, my experience with KC cues has been quite a bit different, although the cue I bought was a full spliced cue, the KC-5b (seen here: http://www.pool-cue.com/kc5.html )

I bought it quite a while ago to use as a break cue. Very pretty cue, cocobolo with 6 points, "southwest style", came with two shafts, moori medium tips. Bought it on eBay for $100 plus shipping. Very stiff, soft hit. If I were to play with one now I'd be able to make the cue ball dance, but not when I bought it. I sanded the shaft down to get more action on the cue ball. That really got the cue to perform. Put on a stack leather wrap, and a friend fell in love with the hit and the way the cue ball could be moved effortlessly, and he offered me $250 for it. Although I didn't really want to sell the cue, I let it go for $250. It's now his favorite cue, although he has several high end cues. The key to making it really perform was the retapered shaft and a Talisman Hard tip. Straight out of the box (and no it didn't come with any padding, shame on KC for that) it plays rather poorly, IMHO, but was definitely worth the $100 I spent on it.

I bought my buddy one last christmas of 04 and he has now went from a 5 to a 6 in APA. It is amazing to watch how much his game has improved. He would make a great shot and control the rock and then turn to me and smile and point to the cue. You have to understand, this guy was shooting with a fleamarket special, shaft and butt did not even match. It was awful...and yet he was one of our stronger players! His KC came with two shafts a cheesy box case. I told him ditch the case and use what he had. He loves it, wood to wood 3/8-10 and a nice tip. It was well worth the $120. I think it's just hit or miss with those cues.

Lots of info here.

Check out Palmer

If you are looking for a cue in that price range please PM me. I think I can offer more control quality. I tried some of their sneaky pete southwest type with the brass pin. The tip was too hard the shaft too fat.:(

I like KC cues, they do need some attention to make them as good as they are.. The taper is definatly to thick, but once its cut down slightly mine played 100% better.. I even left the water buffalo tip on it.. If that guy would figure out how to taper a shaft those cues would be a excellent value, the KC's I have are southwest style and are well made, there are some inperfections but nothing that would affect playability..

I bought the KC's I have for one reason, to try differnt textures on the shaft, I play alot and at times even if my shaft is super slick, making a tight bridge hand difficult, I hate hand chalk, and wont use it... I used 320 grit after I cut the shaft down and added a slight texture to the shaft. I am a player that if I get a nick, it will affect my game, the slight texture doesnt bother me, and actualy helps keep my bridge tight... at times in the winter, at differnt locations making a tight bridge is fairly difficult without the aid of something like chalk, or cue silk or something. and to me that is a distraction I dont need... so I use a texture on my shafts..

I couldnt have done this many cues, I suppose the "thick" shaft was perfect for my experiment.. I only use it to break with but I can say I have played with it and its not bad at all... very acurate.. The english is pretty impessive as well...

in return for my work on the cue, my breaks are acurate as ever, and consistant...

thanx for all the info everyone we went ahead and bought 5 diffrent KC's on ebay just to give them a good tryout and if its just a matter of working on the shaft no big deal. We normally buy players cues and i can make one of those play as good as a meiucci in about 3 minutes , you just take the weight bolt out dump the loose sawdust out then add some gel type locktite and replace the bolt BAM its a meiucci. I know that isnt a southwest but hey for our lower players they think a meiucci is the end all be all of cues. Anyhow thanx again for all the help.

moocheee

OH, If you needed to do the weight bolt thing you must have gotten cues without the AVD design? isn't it spelled moocheee.:) :D

yeah i liek the way you spelled that ahahahahaa.

bought 2 with the avd design 1 each type southwest style and 1 ebony no wrap .

as said i have heard diffrent views both ways and for the price we might aswell test them all out and see what they are about if nothing else we can glue the joints togther paint them bright orange and make them house cues LOL.
But we hope they play better than the Cuetec house cues he has now.

Oh rackem i sent you my email also check your pms pls and send me some info

Kc

Bought 4 of those cues for a buddy to go with this new table. They are better than standard house cues IMO. I have only one complaint. The linen wraps aren't pressed or otherwise wrapped very tight. They tend to get loose and one has started to unravel. When you factor in new wraps for these cues you could get a better cue for the same money.
