Anyone seen this, or seen this tried?

The double jumper!

Here is an example of the shot.

I am just wondering if anyone has seen this shot. Or seen someone try it. It looks like a double masse in the WEI table, but i am trying to illistrate the ball jumping with those curves. It has to clear about a foot to a foot and a half on the first bounce, bounce in between the 2 balls, then bounce over a second ball, hitting your OB.

I have seen Doug Foster attempt this shot tonnes of times, and I've seen it made about 3-5 times, one time even pocketing the OB perfectly. I got more to say, but i wanna here your responses first.

Never seen that one even attempted. Never even seen any shot attempted in which a bounce of the cue ball on the way to the object ball was part of the plan. Looks pretty difficult. Wish I'd been there to see it. Strong shot!

Okay, I can't hold it in any longer. The exact shot diagrammed is the way it came up, in a game last night. I was the one to make it, the cueball landed, and stopped dead, and the 1 ball went 2 rails safe. I had always been jealous of this shot, but never really tried it, it seemed to difficult. Last night when it came up, I just knew i was gonna hit it well. I somehow just knew it was going to work, and it did, to a tee!! To be honest though, i was going for the 9 ball combo, but i would have been happy just to touch the 1, and i ended up hitting it PERFECT, stopping the CB dead. I let a bit of a scream out, and there were high fives all the way around. Before this Doug is the only person i had seen make the hit. I'm just wondering if this is one of those shots that only 2 people in the world have made, although i assume I'm going to get some other people that have seen it or made it.

Hell of a shot, FX. You must teach me that one sometime!

I have never seen or heard of this shot, other than what has been done at Dougs. I would like to see someone else doing it though if anyone has a clip.

Thanks!! Now i know other people can do it too. Although hers was kinda weak, didnt get much height, didnt control the CB, and she did it table length between OB and CB, Mine was about 1/2 table length from CB to OB. Thanks for the link to the shot though.

No I have never seen the shot, in your diagram. When You said "double jumper" the following shot came to mind.

START(
%AQ6S8%BL7V5%CW3N8%Dc6L3%Ef5I0%Fd2W6%G^8P8%Hi3O9%IF9Z0%JB9[6
%KC0\7%LB6\5%M[4A9%NB7B6%OB4[5%P]2K0%UD6[0%VE7Z5%_R0R4%`S5M3
%a\5K3%bH4Y3%cK7T0%dP7T1
)END

The cue ball jumps the three, comes down on top of the one, which jumps the 2 and pockets the 9. I have seen it a couple of times. Both times, it was shot by the same guy. This is probably the most difficult shot I ever witnessed.

That shot is tough, but the double jump is way, way tougher. I have jumped a ball over another ball to pocket it tonnes of times, (not to say im better than 1 in 10 on it) never tried a jump to jump combo, but its not to difficult to execute. Making its tough, but the execution is pretty easy. Every part of a double jumper is difficult.

I have made the OB jump over a ball several times in matches and lots in practice. I have tried the double jumper that you're talking about and I've done it in practice, I've tried it in competition only twice and was unsuccessful both times. Probably won't try it again unless I absolutely have to. btw-I don't use a jump cue, I do full cue, which makes it even tougher I believe.

The one thing that I pulled off the other night was making a fairly tough cut and hopping the OB over balls for position. Tough because you have to visualize where you want to hit the OB and the angle changes depending on how high the CB is when it hits it, so you have to judge direction and height and control whitey off the bounce.

I don't remember the exact setup, but this roughly illustrates what I did.

START(
%AJ5M3%Bq9R5%CO8O3%DN3L8%EK9E2%FM0K8%GL3J3%HM1G7%IF9Z0%JB9[6
%KC0\7%LB6\5%M[4A9%NB7B6%OB4[5%PK2S4%QJ5L0%RA7[7%S`2_1%Tp2I7
%Ua9D1%VQ6H6%_P8H8%`K7H9%aJ4M2%bK6N9%cK8P2%dJ8R6
)END

It's not that difficult if the OB is close to straight in, but with this much angle it's pretty tough. Still not as tough as the double-jump.

Cheers,
Regas

Yeah thats a sweet shot too. I know what you mean by having to judge the cut angle with Height!! its friggin tough, but generally when i try a shot like that im close enough to the OB that the pocketing of the ball is not a concern. this shot is easy in the right situation and extremly difficult if there is any type of difficulty with pocketing.
