Hey all

I was wondering if any of you guys had the chance to see a Z shaft in action. Is it worth the extra cash?

I have to say I really like my z shaft and personally I wish I had gotten it sooner than three weeks ago. I dont know if its the forums or the shaft but i run out more than ever. I did ,and this is important, have a 314 shaft first and that took my some time to get used to. My old cue was a falcon and I used a ton of back had english and it did not deflect well. These things made me have to relearn my stroke a bit but wow is all I can say. In my last four league 8ball premier matches (total of 20 games) I have 6 eros and a bunch of great outs. Do you use a small tip already or what shaft do you currently use. i have used a lot of them so maybe I can draw a comparison for you.

Hi Sean

Thanks for the prompt reply

The thing is, I' ve only played with house cues so far, and occasionally I've tried some of my friends McDermotts and Meuccis. What I do know is that I like light, small tip cues better. I've recently ordered a Predator with the Z, only to find out that most people think it's not worth either the hype or the money (some of them think its not meant for playing pool in the first place!) Its great to hear that it works for you...

Is it true what they say about the deflection, the english and all that?

First of all it is important to know that everyone has an opinion and not all of them are right. Do not even worry aout what others say you should or should not spend as it should only matter to you.

I play pool alot. And I mean alot. There are alot of shafts I like. I almost bought a black dot meucci but went with the z after a teammate got one. I shot for an hour with it and was sold. Have you played alot? I mean this in the way that deflection is somewhat important but it all boils down to your stroke. Over time we all develop compensation for our differnt shafts abilities. The z really straighted out my stroke and allows me to keep my cue more level when stroking the cue ball. This helps keep the ball going where I want it to go.

As far as spin goes... I personally could get alot of spin from most cues out there but find the tip and stroke make the most difference. Thats another story. I'm sure you will like your cue but you must remember that shooting hard with it is not how to play with this cue.

Stroke it dont poke it!

I just got mine last nite and have not gotten a chance to play with it. I've been using a Predador since it's inception and have always believed the it has elevated my game. I'll post again after I use the "Z"

Got the Z a couple of hours ago. Currently at work, but I' ll be using it tonight (along with a couple of friends who are eager to see it and either laugh at me or buy one for themselves :). From the looks of it, I think we'll get along fine with each other.

Thank you all for your help and comments - more feedback always welcome!

I play with a Predato cue. The mechanics and design of the shafts are unique. It has been tested and proven that the Predator shaft works different than the others. 1. The design of the shaft is what allows it to have zero or VERY little deflection. 2. When shooting a ball with english, take right for example. All you have to do is account for the english on the object ball (where you hit it), other than that the CB will still travel straight. 3. I have also noticed that I don't have to put as much english on the CB to make it do what I want. 4. My observation has been that the Predators hits allot better than others...but that part is opinion.

How can anyone play with that taper? I can't make a ball with that taper.
I am amazed how many can play pool with a billard tapered shaft.

Still got a couple of hours before I’m through with work and get a chance to see how it all works out (ie. the “Z”) for me.
In any case, I’ m still surprised how people more experienced than I am –as you guys- with cues, can have such widely divergent views on the “Z” shaft or the 314 for that matter. It kind of reminds me –for those in my age- how the world used to be split between the Duran Duran believers Vs. Wham converts, or PC maniacs Vs. Macintosh enthusiasts! :)

Anyway, I hope the year I spent playing snooker in Scotland helps me cope with the billiard taper….

just came back from the pool house

the z rocks!

most people I gave it to, are currnetly preparing their orders :)

Works fine for me

Hi guys

Although I am nothing of a pro player, I can say with some authority that the z shaft I recently bought has definitely altered my game (in a bad or in a good way remains to be seen). I can say for sure that the shaft will feel awkward at first. It took me a couple of days to feel confident I can pot the balls I used to before, but now I wouldn’t change it for anything. Yes, the squirt part of your game needs readjustment (less deflection and all), but I think this is ultimately good for your stroke. And of course I totally disagree with those who say that predators need months and months of getting used to.
All in all, I really like my shaft, and think I’ll stick to predators for the rest of my amateur pool life. Thanks for listening to a girl in a man’s world. :)
