Hey Bill, Your Buddy (Lou Figurioa) & I are having a pissing contest over at RSB. This guy is fabulous. He is sooo easy & predictable, it isn't really fair.
Check It Out!
It is under - "Practicing With A Better Player".

TY & GL

I don`t know about anyone else but I`ve checked it out over at RSB and the only one pissing is you. I guess losing that match to Lou stung a little didn`t it? Here is a little excerpt from a pool players website that may offer you a little insight to you on how to lose gracefully:

"Winning is a finer aspect of shooting pool; there is obviously another frequent result of shooting pool, losing.

No matter how good you are at shooting pool, or doing something else in life, there is always someone who is better than you. Whether it is because you shot poorly on a particular night or you scratched on the eight ball or because the opponent are just outright better than you, you must be able to handle a loss as well as a win.

Losing is sometimes unavoidable in life, you just have to accept the fact you have been defeated. A graceful and humble person will behave the same when they win or lose. Losing is more important than winning from the persective that it is a learning experience."

I have quoted what I feel is most pertinent to this situation but it wouldn`t hurt to read the whole essay.

Happy to help

George - The following is the exact word for word dialog between OHB & CLC.

HERE IS LOU’S FIRST MENTION OF ME.

Lou Figueroa
did I mention I won the tournament, beating Chuck Ralston in the finals 3-1
and Tom Ferry, aka Old Has Been, also 3-1, in the quarter finals?
...I thought not :-)

HERE IS MY FIRST REPLY AND POST ON RSB -

Lou - As you have mentioned the tournament last weekend, let me
Congratulate you on a great win. You played very well and I enjoyed
Playing with you. I really think the best man won that day.
I think my One Pocket game could really improve by playing you some
More and I'm willing to pay the price.
What would you think of us playing some $300 One Pocket sets (race to
4) a couple days per week?
I was also impressed with the equipment at Chesterfield. I was out
there today (thought you might be around) and found out they have a
great lunch deal that includes free pool from 11am till 3pm with a paid
lunch. THIS IS GREAT!
How does Mondays & Wednesdays sound to you?
Thanks Again for a great game, Tom Ferry, aka OHB

It has gone straight down hill from there. I guess he was offended by my offer but I wish someone could tell me how I've gotten so "under his skin" that he had posted 7 times on RSB today (4th of July Holiday) so far.
Wow, I wish I had someone I had just beaten chasing me to play.

I`d say what you just quoted is accurate. Lou posted about how he fared in a tournament and you responded with a congrats and a challenge. Had you just congratulated him that would have been cool, it`s the challenge part that caused everything to go straight down hill IMO. Can you say passive agressive behaviour disorder? I would also say the next couple of posts between you is more telling.

Lou:
"Come on down. We'll work something out."

your next post which was directed to Lou via Billy "Drivermaker" Senko after he stuck in his 2 cents(and then some)

OHB:
"NOW - DON'T EVERYONE GET WORKED UP.
Lou showed himself to be a gentleman and a great One Pocket player when
we played last week and I'm sure he will love the idea of playing me
$300 sets (race to 4) every Monday & Wednesday - For the forseeable
future.
Why Wouldn't He?
Chesterfield Billiards has some very nice tables and also has the
COMPLETE set of Brunswick Centennial Balls. Jerry (the owner) has told
me that he has a complete set (including the Blue Circle Cue Ball) put
away for Big Games.
I'm sure Lou is just busy and will respond A.S.A.P.
Thanks, Tom (OHB) "

Do you challenge everyone you lose to in a tournament to $300 dollar sets, 2 nights a week for the foreseeable future? I don`t think so. If you want to start pissing contests then by all means go ahead and do it. You`ll always find people who like rolling around in the mud. Just remember who started it and tried to perpetuate it on other sites like this:

OHB:
"Hey Bill, Your Buddy (Lou Figurioa) & I are having a pissing contest over at RSB. This guy is fabulous. He is sooo easy & predictable, it isn't really fair.

Not exactly the essence of good sportmanship now is it?

My 9 year old can jump with a jump stick. This is too easy of a tool for anyone to use. Little skill required to make contact (I am not saying pocket the ball). Worse, I see so many players take out their jump stick when a much better defensive kick should have been played.

Using jump cues well in 9 Ball requires high levels of skill. As you say, a child can be taugt to get the cue ball in the air with one, but aiming to make the object ball, and get position, requires IMHO much more skill than for a regular shot. Whether it requires more, less or the same skill than a kick shot to make the same ball with position I cannot answer as my personal skills are not that well developed for either option. However I can say it forces players to develop better safety skills, as a full lock-up safety with the cue ball touching the blocking ball becomes much more desirable than a simpler safety. These lock-up safeties are harder to achieve, so the players with better skills are rewarded, which is how it shold be.

I use a jump cue and playing with other amatuers of my own level it is very useful. More often than not gets me out of accidental snookers than deliberate safety plays. However I am at least 50% likely to sell-out even if I make legitimate contact, so I use it sparingly. Whilst I don't like it, just knowing this percentage helps me make better shot decisions.

Everytime Mitch Lawrence says "Rocky Mountain, North Carolina" I fully expect him to say "Rocky Mountain Oysters".

The blue table is very annoying. Why can't they just stick with something classic?

Jim
I didn't get to see any of the show, but I hope Mitch wasn't saying, "Rocky Mountain." The name of the city is ROCKY MOUNT. That won't make their leaders very happy....

I was at the tourney, and I seem to remember the table being purple. Strange that it shows up blue on TV.

I think the reason they're using different tables and different colors is so people don't think they're seeing the same tournaments over and over.
