Anyone's 314 shaft ferrule expand?

i've had a 314 shaft that i've been playing with for 2yrs now.

i rolled it on the table yesterday and thought i had a little warp but actually the ferrule end where the tip meets is expanded.

like a tip mushrooming effect. i think it maybe from breaking with it but i dont know.

Anyone else have this problem? can i just get it turned down a little on a lathe?

suggestions anyone?
 
ever get the ferrule hot? burnishing? left in the car? etc.....?

if you say the ferrule too it leads me to believe it was actually the shaft wearing down over time getting thinner.
 
A fellow league player showed me his Predator tip the other day.

Apparently he'd won some money from someone. He went to pee and when he came back the loser was gone and his Predator tip had been whittled by a knife. !!!

It gave a good look into the makings of the ferrule and tip....kinda like a cut-a-way drawing. That ferrule is so thin, that if you break with it hard and often, I'd say that is the culprit.

I've had a 314 for about 3 years now and have little, if any, swelling or mushrooming. But my break speed is not too hot and if I am hard breaking, I use my CueTech.

I play with predator shafts and i've never used them to break with. I don't think the standard 314 or 314 2nd gen were designed for breaking and that's why they came out with the BK and BK2. The ferrule is soft on the original 314 and if you've been breaking with it for 2 yrs. i'd say that is your problem. If your shaft is in good condition other than the ferrule mushrooming it would be worth it to send it to predator and have them replace the ferrule and tip for you. I would also stop breaking with your 314 shaft.

does anyone know how predator is with its return policy? i havent had to send anything back before.

Predator stands by their warranty, unless you have modified the product. It is one of the strong points for me using their equipment.
You don't need a reciept, but you will have to fill out a form that you can download from their website. They do all their repairs in bunches, so if you miss the turn in on Thursday, you will have to wait unitl next thursdays turn in and the following weeks send out.
