LOL, I know a girl that went over a yr without paying.... she would call to cancel & they would offer her so many months free.... when that time was up she would call to cancel & they would giver her more free.

As my luck goes, I tried it a few yrs ago when they ticked me off... I got one free month but I got a yr at about half the regular price.

Yeah, I used to call and complain about too much spam, and they'd say something like, "Oh! I'm sorry! Here's three free months for your pain."

They don't do that much anymore ever since New York Attorney General Mark Spitzer (I think) got after AOL for making it so hard for AOL subscribers to cancel their service. Turned out that AOL reps would get commissions/prizes/whatever if they were able to retain a customer who had called in wanting to cancel their service.

Which explains why it was so easy to get free months after threatening to cancel! :) :)

On the right, click on "use your internet explorer settings"

Cool that ya got it to work! I didn't even know that recent versions of AOL had that option to use IE's settings or other settings. Last time I truly had to worry about AOL was when they were still at version 5.

Edit - never mind! I was actually signed on. I signed out of the IE window, went back to AOL, tried to sign back on & couldn't. Even being signed on through IE, I still can't back on through AOL... that was weird though... I WAS signed on thru AOL for a few min

You lost me :)

I lost me too. :( When I followed the steps that I had posted and opened AZB on AOL, I was signed on. I closed that window, signed out of AZ from my my IE window, and went back to AOL & tried to sign on. (I wanted to be out of AZ on IE while trying this) When I opened the window on AOL again, I couldn't sign back on through AOL. :(

Are you having the same issues as Timberly? In her original post, she stated something along the lines of "when I use AOL's browser, X problem happens."

That would be correct. When the AZ forum page opens it tells me to log in, when I log in it says "thanks for logging in sizl you are being redirected" and then the same page comes back up asking me to log in again. Thanks for the response as well as any solution you might have.

I've got it...it works now!

Go to "Safety" on the took bar

Click on "settings"

Go to "W" and click on "web internet options"

On the right, click on "use your internet explorer settings"

Do these things but be sure to click on "remember me" when signing onto AZB through AOL.... I'm using my AOL browser right now. If I don't click on remember me, I can't sign on. Todd, try this & let me know what happens.

Turn your frown upside-down into a smile...LOL, it works for ya now, correct?

Hmmm. I'll mess around with this when I get home in a few hours (I'm still at work).

I have <cough>AOL 9.0 installed at home so I can experiment and see if I can see what's up. Try Timberly's suggestion also, if you haven't yet.

Yep but internet explorer or not... AZB is slower on my AOL browser...considerably slower. I'm back on IE now... life is much better. ;)

I love AOL, been there since they handed out the first disk. Kind of like why I like AZB - a community feel. But I have Comcast cable too.

The only thing I don't like is the proprietary format they have the email in, so that you can't access old emails from different computers. You can reinstall the old organize folders, but you can't combine them to make a running total of emails. Saving now on your computer is a small start, but I have not looked to see what format is being saved in.

I just tried going to AZB from the AOL browser and didn't have any problems...didn't even have to log in, so I guess I can't help.

I think I have it. I did everything that Tims did and I went a couple of steps further and I was able to log on to AZ through AOL.

Those steps were........... Click on the Security tab in Internet Options and the click on the Custom Level button, this will open up a window with a bunch of selection boxes.

Scroll down until you see the box that says...... Java Permissions,
change the setting from high to medium and this is what solved my problems.

And then you have to save it or click apply for it store the info for future use.

Good Luck!

Hi,
Auntie Dan helped me to correct the problem. As far as I am concerned all the problems started when AZB changed their stuff.Send E-mail to Aunty Dan and ask for his telephone.then bug the hell out of him.He is a very nice man and his area of expertise is in computers.

We got it all figured out now, thanks! ;) Glad you were able to get your mess straightend out. Yes, all the problems started with the switch over.

Good move! On various web sites, sometimes I see links that say something like: "If you are using AOL browser, click here..."

Ya gotta love computers. You see all sorts of weird stuff. My security settings for the Internet zone are set to Medium, and the template for that specifies a High Safety for Java permissions. Also, I don't think vBulletin software uses Java applets at all, which is what that setting is for.

But I'm glad you got it to work tho!

Oh, and thanks for the rep points :-)

Not to beat the proverbial dead horse into the ground, considering you and Sizl got it to work, but I just logged on to AOL to see what you were referencing. Never mind what I said above -- I thought there was a choice to use IE settings or some AOL proprietary settings.

Anyhow, total coolness that all works fine.

Now is everyone ready when this message board software will be upgraded again? :)

P.S. I'm posting on AZB through AOL's browser, and speed-wise, all is good. Dunno why yours is performing slowly.
