Hello,
I built an 8 ball scorecard App using the APA scoring system. Totally free, no ads, no bs. Enjoy!

In the Google Play Store search for "8 ball scorecard".

Here is a direct link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.badbeef67.x8BallScoreCard

The 9 ball scorecard app I posted some time ago here: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/apa-9-ball-scorecard-for-practice-android-app.573367/

It might be a great tool but one cannot help but be somewhat skeptical, hesitant, cautious about downloading any software application/program, especially when it is offered free. The devices we customarily use to utilize these software applications invariably have access to sensitive, confidential data relating to our on-line viewing habits, credit cards, bank accounts, electronic purchase and payment history if we buy on-line or remit payments electronically. So while it is a noble gesture to offer it for free, nonetheless it’s not without potential for misuse of one’s confidential data. My post is no way intended to be reflective of you and your offer but rather the state of affairs with regard to the Internet & its scams, phishing, frauds, etc.

You're a new member, obviously a billiard enthusiast. Where you been all this time? Seems like AZ would've been drug of choice long ago.

I agree entirely. These phones aren't healthy.

I thought it was worth my time to offer it free. I hate ads and clickbait. I'm doing fine in life and don't need spare income. As a knuckle dragging pool player I'm constantly paying money to do anything so I didn't want a paywall for others either.

Using the google play platform to launch and app is NOT trivial, and the apps are review heavily. As a developer I have to write a privacy statement, declare any and all data my app is trying to have access to, etc. Obviously evil will do evil and there plenty of ways scammers and jerks will find ways to screw the unsuspecting, it's sad. Based on my experience building these two apps, going to test, applying for production, signing endless waivers, giving Google ALL of my personal information, my left arm, and first born, the death drones know where to find me!

At least as a user, when downloading an app there is a list of permissions and "data safety" section that describes what they are using on the phone's side. I have no idea how robust that is though or what a bad guy could do to circumvent those controls, but at least as a user you get a glimpse of what the app is doing.

On the technical side I used a framework called Expo that uses ReactNative Javascript for the code. The code is public on github here: https://github.com/MLeach67 . Expo can also build and deploy against apple, but I don't have any apple products to do the build. Apple's developer account costs $100 a year vs Googles $25 onetime price, so unless there is a demand for it I won't deploy to Apple.
