APA 9-ball

I would agree that the skill level limit in 9-ball is harder to accomadate the higher skilled players. From the APA point of view though, they do not want the higher skilled players to dominate the league since they make up a very small portion of the total league nationwide. For those who do not agree with the ball count instead of just game count, think what the skill level of the wife would have been if she would have played that same match against a 7 and won 2-0 in 1 or 2 innings? She would be a 5 now instead of a 2. There is no other fair way to handicap 9-ball other than counting balls. Just my opinion.

It's a formula that works pretty well IMO. Obviously it can't work everytime because there are hundreds of thousands of players, and hence there will always be some oddities (like your example). However, the oddites are what get published, not the 98% of people that it works for. DRs can request a skill level change, and LO can watch the player too. It's not perfect, but then what is?

The problem is with the 23 rule, but that is not for this thread.
