Our Championship match for our APA league was last night. We, Zim's Rack, played against regular season 1st place, Sharky's. Again, it was the first team to win 3 matches is victorious.
We threw out the first player for the first game, DAN D. It was a tough match with tons of good offensive and defensive shots by both players, we ended up losing 4-2. Second match: I played a 5 sl, making the match a 5-4 race (I needed 5). I started off a little rough, but was able to pull off a win for the first game. My opponent won the 2nd game and that fired me up a little. I won the next 4 games, with a little help from defense and the "pool gods". We lost our next match, match score: Sharky's 1 to our 1. We got trampled in the next match, 5-0 by Sharky's room owner, Gary Lutmann. Sharky's 2-1. We fought hard in our next match and came out with a win, 2-2 score now. Our final match came down to our 2sl versus their 2 sl. I don't think either team was expecting this, but we were very confident in our 2sl, apparently much more than he was, haha!! Both players were making some great shots and playing some defense when needed. Unfortunatly, Sharky's won the match due to our player scratching on the 8 ball. So Zim's Rack ended up taking 2nd place in the season tournament and 2nd place in regular season.
Just wanted to give KUDOS to my fellow teammates and those that have been following us throughout the season. We'll get em' this summer!!!

Did this qualify you for regionals or cities or whatever you call your tournament to determine Vegas teams. Or was this that tournament?

Sounds like this was end-of-the-session league playoffs, and they are still going to the City Championship, where Vegas teams are determined. I hope you qualified coming in second?

With regards to losing, We have all won 'em and lost em' Zim. Sucks being on the losing side for sure. Just use your pissed-off-about-it energy to practice and play better going into next session.

We just got knocked out of our city tournament in 9-ball. It was double elimination. It came down to the last match on tuesday and it was tied 40-40. Our sl5 played their sl8. Their sl8 made 6 quick points on back to back 9 on breaks. They split racks for a while which was all we needed. Their sl8 won 10-0 the next 2 racks and that was all she wrote. On thursday it came down to the last match again. We were up 42-38. I played the last match sl6 to their sl5. He won the lag and the 1st rack 6-4. From there on out I got my ass handed to me. It ended up being a 19-1 match. I missed a couple shots I should not have, got a couple unlucky rolls and missed 2 kicks shots and bam that was it. Pretty much every time he was at the table the balls were spread nicely and he cleaned them up. I gave him credit. He shot very good and never gave me a chance to get in the match. It was the wrong night for my game to be a little bit off but that's the breaks. There is always next year.
