APA Corruption..?

the 1st league i ever joined was bcapl several years ago. after a year i quit for personal reasons. a few years later my gf got me to playing again and it was all apa.

i asked several apa players who were former bcapl players what happened to bcapl ? i was told the lo did not have the money to send the team to the nationals and the league folded. nothing was ever done about it.

it seems to me like the national office should have stepped in and at the very least made sure the winning team went to the nationals

League play

For anyone playing leagues know this. They only want your money and will screw you at will when it suits their interests. You will quit and another player will take your place...and the beat goes on.

The APA will let anything occur if there is no one complaining or noticing. Simple as that. They are not going to do anything if a 'tree falls in the woods'.

The frustrating thing about the apa is the lack of consistency and transparency.

How can you expect them to enforce rules and prevent teams from getting to Vegas by doing shenanigans when the apa is doing shenanigans in manipulating things behind the scenes?

try this one. I joined an APA league for my first time (normally play bca and still do). I joined because it was an inhouse singles league, 8 ball on Friday nights. I never played APA before so I enter as a 5. Win the first week; next week I'm a 4. Win again, next week I'm a 3. Play the guy running the league. He says I need two games and he needs 5(since he is a powerful 7, lol). Gives me the break; I break and run two on him then he tells me there is no way in hell I'm a 3 and I have to win another game. I break dry; he hits in a couple balls I run out. He says your a strong 7 why are a 3? I say you guys make up the numbers i have no idea how it works and oh by the way I'm pretty sure you can't just raise me in the middle of a match? Anyway told him I quit and stopped going.

In house single league with apa rules maybe..It's strange for sure..I'm gald the Area LO here are honest an fair..

Sounds like a crappy situation. I just joined an BCA league this spring. I didn't want to join the APA simply because many of the APA league shooters I know ALWAYS talk about laying down or sandbagging. I joined the BCA league because every BCA player I've talked to (I know far more APA players than BCA players) seems to want play to get better, no laying down, go hard or go home. I like it like that.

I pretty much took sandbagging as in integral part of the APA, seriously. And I think that might be the problem here. For example, and I could be completely wrong, but sandbagging seems to be such a big thing with the APA that maybe the LO thought your team mate was sandbagging. If he wasn't, maybe he should have and this thread wouldn't exist. I'm just saying.

From what I've read I believe your team mate was playing the best he could 100% of the time. Maybe he should look into another league that's composed of better players and players who want to win the right way.

I'm not sure how this BCA league is going to shake out but if I think I'm being cheated,my next step would be a TAP league or I would just get more involved in the local open tournaments being held at the bars and pool halls. Their is always a chance of winning one for the C+ to B players so it keeps me interested.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts and since I'm a baby in the pool league world, I could be totally wrong.

I've never been Cheated by a league...its the scum lo..not the national office.

When I played Bcapl..we didn't play for a trip to Vegas..we played for pay out at the end of the season..we could go an play in Vegas if we wanted too. There was a couple time that we all agreed to play for two teams to go to Vegas..this meant no end of season pay out..which was fine too. Each Area/Lo has their format or reason..our bca op did it for the love of the game..not for gain..he has a real business of his own..just saying.

That's notnan APA league. Uses APA rules, maybe, but APA doesn't have single format leagues.
