APA lowers age limit?

A friend of mine recently heard from someone that the APA is lowering its age limit from 21 to 19... Can anyone confirm this? I found no mention of it on the APA website or any other place. Perhaps it isn't true, but I figured you AZBers might know...

Wow. Excellent!

Thanks for the info. It doesn't affect me, being almost 30 now, but my young friend Mike is itching to play in our local APA.

18 + okay

I am starting a master league at Drexeline in September ,and this is true but this is in a non-alcohol environment. The bars in Pa. do not permit under 21 inside after 9pm I think. It will depend on laws of state.. Las vegas 18 + are now:confused: allowed to play in Riviera APA tournaments I was told.

Geez, I thought the immaturity level was high enough in the APA already.

I wouldn't be surprised if that gets implimented on a league by league basis. I've never been to an APA venue yet where there wasn't alcohol served, in some states this would disallow 18 year olds from even being able to get in the establishment.

I imagine local laws will trump this rule wherever applicable - but it's nice that the APA opened the league up to 18-20 yrs olds, at least in the areas they can get into the venues.

As far as maturity levels dropping - I've met my share of 18 yr olds who were more mature than some 48 yr olds. It's all relative. :D

Master league info: race to 7 US Amateur rules apply. 5 games 8 ball, 8 of 9 ball flip or lag to decide which first.

This will be in house for now. Non-handicapped, no innings marked, 4 person teams, 3 play per night. Chance for players to get better. Will send team next August to Las Vegas master team tournament. We will be playing at the "award winning" Drexeline Billiard room on 4 1/2 -9' Gold crown Simonis . Should be fun .
