APA lowers the Axe on their Junior Program

That ripples up the chain and puts not only the LO and the national office at risk, but eventually shows up as a post in forums like this, with a title like "The horrible APA hires sex offenders" instead of "The horrible APA axes their juniors program"
Are you suggesting I change the title of the thread....?

While I don't doubt anything you have suggested. I am surprised the very things you're citing weren't already concerns for the past several years.

Not at all. You didn't put the word horrible in the title of the thread. I was just saying sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's sort of like having to choose the lesser of two evils.

The APA's Juniors program was a grass roots thing. They just took over the tournament a few years ago, and are just now realizing what they got themselves into.

I know here in pa it’s tough to have a juniors in my area. No pool halls Only bars. Kids can’t be in them after certain hours and some still have smoking so they can’t be in at all. Sorry to see it go though. I took a screen shot of the last one. They had diamond tables with a bright green cloth and green fluorescent lights every where. It looked cool as hell and I’m sure something those kids won’t forget.

I just thought the arena looked really good. Something I think the apa does really well Is make it look and feel like your playing in a pro environment And something you won’t forget.

the apa is no more a pyrmid scheme then any league it. You pay for entertainment. That’s all it is. no one is being forced to do it And a lot of people have fun every night because of it so the apa did it’s job.

Nobody is forced to partake in any pyramid scheme. I think the claim is based around the idea that the APA captains/players are forced to recruit because of the handicapping system that forces teams to separate if they improve. The idea is that those improving players stay active regardless if they were cut. Between them and the new recruits that replaced them with old teams, that translates into more teams feeding the LO, and more revenue for corporate. Now if the captains were getting a small cut from their players. I think you'd have a legit pyramid scheme...lol. I don't know of another league that has the built in growth algorithm.

While I'm not a huge fan of the APA. It's a very sound business model. ...and to be fair what I don't like about the league has nothing to do with the org.

Back to the juniors... Hard to blame the APA for axing it. I'll blame society for this one. I'm guessing on the whole, parents were treating it as a daycare. Which puts a ton of onus on the APA to monitor and ensure the LOs are air tight against legal exposure. I can say that the juniors league in my area seemed pretty solid and the LO seemed to enjoy having it. While I can't say for sure. It looked as though the large bulk of the parents stayed and watched.
