APA Nationals - Singles

Who here has been to the APA's Singles Nationals (or whatever the proper name is) and will anybody here be going? I'll be there and would really appreciate any insight. I qualified as a 6 in 8-Ball, so I am expecting an East Coast 6 or 7 to kick me around on the table a bit (I'm in the Northwest). I'm a little inconsistent since I was a 4 less than a year ago, but I just got my first consecutive BNRs (2 :p ) a week ago with a TR to lead into them. Thanks in advance for any info!

I did 9-ball last year, and 8-ball the year before. It really is a fun event. I didn't notice any difference in standard between regions. A friend of mine won about five games as an SL6.

Have fun!

Congrats on your first consecutive BNRs. I think that's great!

This year going for 8 ball from Baltimore- maryland regional. Went 2years agopa. regional 8 ball. Lost scratched on 8 cost me 600 had a ball, life is good. Missed 8 ball pa regional last year for trip to vegas . Wow pattern is forming I guess not all luck. Maybe a year in Nam sets priorities and is something I draw upon when I am facing a difficult situation. Mainly enjoy the competition . I booked dinner at Emeril's Delmonica's 5:30 weds.and Emeril's New Orleans fish house 2:30 weds.. I will cancel one . We have tickets for MGM Howie Mandel Show at 9 pm weds. I have been to Vegas Riviera also for scotch doubles but never for a team event. This is my goal this year as I think that would be great time. Good luck see ya there.

If you are a SL6 and you can put up a TR, and then 2 BRNs you will be fine.

More like if your a SL4 and can put a TR and two pack you'll be fine!

Man, you are going to see some true SL shooters, but, for the most part, people are going to be way underrated. That's how they got there in the first place, mind you.

I am not in any way picking on the APA, as the same goes for most other national level handicap leagues, like TAP.

Everyone I've talked to so far about it has said that they've really enjoyed going and have met some great people there that they still are in contact with. I'm not worried about sandbagging 6s & 7s, I'm more concerned with the fact that I've been playing seriously for just over a year. I qualified for regionals as a 5, but still made it to nationals as a 6. I'm also undefeated on my Monday night team against mostly 6s and 7s (I don't count my lame loss to a 3 that didn't sink 7 balls the whole 4-game match). By the time I get there, I should be able to put up a fight against anyone that gives me a turn at the table.

I was hoping to find someone here that would be going, since you guys seem pretty cool for the most part (with the exception of 70-year-old racists that pick fights online! :D ).

I'll be out there for the 8-ball. Been there a few times before and have always enjoyed it. It is a very well run event. Pretty classy setup. PM me before you leave and maybe we'll get together for some practice. Good luck out there.
