I played APA for the first time a few months ago and I won the whole trip shindig to go out there. I'm moreso interested in meeting people and hanging out than I am playing in the tournaments, since it's my first time out to Vegas.

I know AZ normally doesn't give an absolute damn about APA, but I know some of you must play it. Who else is going?

I went last year as a 5. Had some fun on the strip also, Got dehydrated though walking the strip on Friday afternoon and ended up in my room all day Saturday trying to recover. Seemed like I played lights out Thursday and then Friday couldn't hit a ball or get a roll to save my life. Ended up out mid day hense walking the strip. Decided to go drink and gamble.

I won a trip again this year as a 6. Hoping to play and place better this year. I'm more focused and have been practicing a ton.

When you go there is a pretty fantastic Mexican restaurant in the hotel. I forget the name. But I must of ate there 4 meals last year. First restaurant on the right as you enter the food court at the Riviera. I plan on frequenting it again this year.

I'll be there playing 9 ball. I won my board at the Regionals. I'm an 8. This will be my 10th. consecutive year. I usually go for a week in August just to shoot in the minis and usually can win enough to pay for my trip. I love Vegas.

I was there a few years ago for singles, you should have asked then! It was a good time from what I remember. I made more in cards than pool unfortunately (shocker).

Tips

In 9 ball......safties, lots of safties. No need firing at balls that you know you either cant make or cant get shape. I went a couple of years ago and lost my first game because I fired at everything because those Valleys are so small and loose. Lesson learned.

Sounds like we should gamble a bit while we're there :)

Sorry, Matt! Would've been cool to meet you, dude. I just started playing it with some friends for fun a few months ago. I'll be sure to just go pot-pot-pot on a 1/2 - 5/10 O8 table for both of us!

I'd like to see what the bracket will be like this year, with the 6's and 7's split. Last year there were something like 220, making up 4 sub-brackets. Hoping that my play doesn't push me into the strong bracket if I go again. I'd rather not have to face killers right off the bat. :embarrassed2:

A few friends are going, so I was half-tempted to just go down for the weekend, but I'm trying to save up my money to get Diamonds installed in the place I hang out at. Always something, I suppose.
