50 innings is 100 misses and (a hill-hill match between 2's that ends 2-1) if they make every ball, 45 makes. That's 145 shots, or 48 minutes if the 20-second average is kept. At 45 per, it's an hour and 48 minutes. Even if it's 6's and not 2's, it's only 30 minutes longer for the shots (6 more games max). That doesn't include time outs (12 minutes max) or time spent racking (only 3 racks). The big time savings is from keeping that average shot duration down.I’ve seen bad, but 50 innings is a whole new level. I think I’ve seen 30 once.
(Keep in mind an APA inning requires both people to finish shooting and carries over between racks).
I often hear "It was a very defensive match" as an excuse for a long match between higher skill levels, but you don't get more time just because you're playing defense. Fear of being wrong is at the root. Don't be afraid to be wrong. Remember the phrase "Think long, think wrong".
For the record, I once shot a match against a 2 (I was a 4 at the time) that took 80 innings. I left her a shot the first game and she ran out. She didn't see a ball the rest of the match. It still only took about an hour.
