APA team 8-ball in Vegas-anybody going?

Have one shot in 8 Ball. Qualifiers for our City's this Sunday. Finals next week. Not holding my breath but.... if we win, I'll be back in Vegas :happydance: ! Perhaps this time I'll pay attention.

Lyn

Our city/tri-cup was last weekend. Not only was it on my birthday, but our 1 from the Spring session decided she didn't want to show up. So I could not play because of that, AND it marked the first time that I was on a team that has now made it to regionals in my 8 1/2 years in the APA and I won't be able to play at all now. Still, I showed up and coached my arse off and the girls did a wonderful job. Our regionals is in a week and a half. With any luck, I'll get a call about a no-master tournament I'm on stand-by for this weekend, something like $30 buy-in and $400 added. That would help ease the pain.

Good luck to everybody else the next couple of weeks!

APA Vegas

Wally, congrats on your win. I've been out there twice for 8ball teams and once for masters team. If its still at the Riveira, you can save some money staying at Circus Circus the new tower is in the back so its a bit of a stroll to the Riv thru all the kids at the Circus. There's a Mickey D's upstairs at the entrance of Circus Circus and also another McD's on the other side of Slots of Fun. Take a cab to Freemont St. best place to party w a group! We used our APA entry fee $350 to have dinner as a team at the top of the Stratosphere. They have a great pool on the 8th floor w outdoor ping pong tables. The secret pool is on the 25th floor I believe, its a small topless tanning pool. Peppermill is the only place you can walk to, take a cab, if you can see it, its still miles away so don't walk its hot. Checkout Diners Drive Inns and Dives for great food spots. My favs are Hash House A Go Go, and Hot n Juicy on Spring Mntn Rd. Tables are $1 and only take tokens, you'll go thru hundred"s. In the back of your Apa magazine is a tournament and mini tourney schedule, go thru and highlight any you are able to play in.The tickets for minis go on sale at the big desk in the back of the pool room, they are sold at exactly 24hrs in advance to the start of each mini. You can also buy or sell your mini tickets at the desk 15 min in advance of them starting so if ones sold out hang around before and you might be able to find someone selling one. Have fun!! Congrats again. Todd

Wally, I did read you had been out before, so the post was to help others who may be attending for the first time, good luck to ya, I'll keep an eye out for the tall guy!!!

Thanks for the well-wishes.

I had good feelings about it a couple months ago, lately not so much.

My 8-ball team is the weaker of the two, but we have a shot. I had a great feeling about our 9-ball team, but the great handicap monster has hamstrung us. Oh well, just means I have to play more. Not sure that is a good thing :p

We play on 9-footers all year, and have to play on 7-foot diamonds at states. There are no 7-footers within 45 minutes to even practice on, and its a valley.

It's good to even get the chance.

look on the bright side...no real long shots.

Keep your spirits up , an stay out of your heads..
do the best you can..thats all you can ask of yourselves.
but you know that dub. Again best of luck to your team.

apa nationals

I will be there with my ball team from double jeopardy league hope to run into some az posters there. Now if my tap team can get through our qualifier it will be like drawing a full house.

our qualifiers do not start until this weekend. i got 4 shots at going to vegas.

i have 8 ball cities this next weekend.

8 ball doubles the following weekend

9 ball the next weekend

9 ball doubles the weekend after that. problem is i also have napa nationals in tunica this same weekend. if you see a guy zipping back and forth between tunica and memphis on a red victory with a pool case strapped on his back it will be me.:D

hopefully one of these teams will qualify for vegas before i am too old to enjoy it.
