Last year I posted this to the forum:

Last weekend was the 2005 Gold Cup for our area. My new team had had a rotten year and we didn't even make the Tri-Cup on any of the three seasons. However, I had to find some way to get back to the Gold Cup. Our area started up a new League for Spring session only. As a back-up plan, I entered on a team of eight players that were a combination of the two teams that play out of our bar. We had a great season and managed to sneak into the Tri-Cup. I went 3-0 as our team won three straight matches to qualify for the Gold Cup.
After winning some matches at the Gold Cup, I found myself 4-2 down in a race to 5 in the deciding match of our semi-finalto get to Vegas. Somehow I managed to raise my game and win the final three racks to send my team into euphoria and to make the Final. There were two other players on my team who were on my team in 2004, as well as four others that watched what had unfolded the year before.
It must have been fate. The match was on the SAME TABLE as the year before. Locked at 1-1 with our SL5 3-0 up against their SL5, all I could think was "It's in your own hands". But that turned into a nightmare as we lost that match 3-4 to go 1-2 down. It's at that point that I had to play. I was put up against a 4. This is a 5/2 race for me. To say I was focused is the understatement of the year. I beat this guy 5-0 with an almost flawless display. That left our 3 to go up in the last match in a race to 2 to get to Vegas, and to erase the bitter memory of the last year.. she did not disappoint. Her final winning shot for Vegas was one the finest shots I've ever seen under extreme pressure (

I learnt even more last weekend. That is to never give up, and that you only have to succeed the last time you try.
See you all in Vegas! My team name is "Even Ruder"
