Applying English to a Coin?

I was told by a good pool player(player who has played on TV many times) that it is possible to apply english to a coin to make it land real close to the wall.
Does any of you know how to do it?

From what you said I have no idea what you mean. Bert Kinister in his 10 Best Hustles video, has a shot with a quarter that has you shoot the quarter in to the rail and have it come back and end up going between 2 pieces of chalk. It looks crazy imposible, but with practice, it can be done and it is cool to see.

Yes english, so to speak, can be applied to pitching a coin. I can stop a quarter on a wooden stool from 15 feet away. I've won a lot of money throwing to the spot on a pool table.

Ah! So he meant throwing the quarter. my bad. It is felt, it induces friction, and quarters even have tread edges, of course you can throw back spin on a pool table. Now a wooden stool, I would like to see that.

I am terrible sorry that I did not explain myself clear enough. What I saw was this:

Two players standing in front of a concrete wall at the same distance. They both throw a coin at the wall, whoever lands the coin closest to the wall wins.

When I talked to the guy who seemed to get his coin almost right up against the wall everytime after he won, he told me the skill could be developed through practise throwing a coin with english and learning how to kill the speed as the coin hits the wall.

Does anyone know about this?

One way to do it, is to get it to roll all the way to the wall, when it hits, it should just topple over, almost against the wall.
Just the other day, I went into the office of a car lot, and the people there were sliding to the wall.
They were playing a dollar a head each slide ROFL.
Funniest damn thing I've seen in awhile.
Thank you for the reply. In the game I saw the two players had to toss the coin toward the wall, there was no rolling.

As I learned, you toss the coin in a manner that has it hit the felt at approx 45deg. That kills it/ makes it stop there. Go find those people that roll it and make you some$.
