Appropriate time for a break.

If you are playing a match, whether it’s a tournament or money match and your opponent decides to take a restroom break, when is the appropriate time to do so? Before the following rack? When it’s your inning at the table mid-rack? When the incoming opponent has a difficult shot? Etc..
What is the proper pool etiquette?
Drop some comments and why? TIA

When it's your break. When it's anyone's break. Outside of that...if you can't wait it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
I would try not to interrupt my opponents flow if at all possible. Winner breaks, I will try and wait for my break. Alternate break, I don't worry about that. One pocket... I gotta piss, ain't nobody got time to wait for you

In a winner breaks situation, it could be considered attempted sharking if you got up in between racks that they were running. An attempt to get them out of stride. Wait until your break.

Between games when it’s your break is in my opinion by far the best time to take a break. Between games with the opponent breaking is the 2nd best time.

Taking a break in the middle of a game is never courteous, but if you must, it should be when you are returning to the table after your opponent has missed, scratched or played a safety.

But never expect to be able to take a restroom break in the middle of a game just when you’ve just given up the table to your opponent or while your opponent is shooting - extremely rude and don’t expect them to wait on you!

I try to hold out to a break, otherwise when it becomes your turn.

This is not possible in 14.1 continuous, and sometimes in 1-pocket.
