I got my 'poka-dot' ball last year and have been using it in practice sessions and also in 'friendly' matchups.
A few observations;
I liked the way the 'spin' was easily seen on all shots, but especially when I applied 'left or right' side spin.
I was surprized to see the reaction of the cue ball coming off the rail. Once again especially when 'left or right' side spin was applied.
This feed back from the 'dots' on the cue ball made me use less english and adjust my 'speed' for my desired results.
I also started to 'stay down' longer (and consequently follow through better) than I would have with the normal cue ball.
Although I got the 'poka-dot' ball to see the spin, I didn't realize that it would also improve my game so much.
Players that have joined me in practice also noticed similar 'feedback' and have now got their own 'poka-dot' ball for practice.
As far as the difference between the 'poka-dot' and the red circle or blue circle cue balls. I don't have the expertise to claim that there is that much difference that it would impact my game in the least.
