Are 3/8 x 11 a really uncommon joint size?

My Jacoby is the V4 the V5 was not out yet and as far as I know you cannot get it in 3/8 x 11 yet.

I prefer the Triple 60 in 30" I just like the taper.
I think it is available in 3/8x11 now, at least the guy selling a lot of imported US product has told me so (at a price of 4,500rmb around 675$) - There are many other things I would rather spend 675$ on. I will wait til I eventually meet someone who has one and try it.

I would agree with you that the taper is palatable on the T60. But the overall construction, sound and flexibility didn't resonate with me. I know a lot of friends here in SH bought into it almost immediately (as they do with most things... sometimes, I really feel the whole "more money than sense" vibe is part of culture here... "It is expensive, it must be good"), and then sold it rather sharpish.

I have proven this many times…
Every cue company that makes CF also makes wood and the sponsored players have a choice and many of them use the wooden option, I’ve even posted a partial yet impressive list of players.
My experiences have kind of pointed me in the opposite direction. I've met European, US and Asian players that have all been rather dismissive of the product they are paid to use.

I’m currently using the Predator Centro, I got to say that I’m really impressed with it and really like it, but I don’t know how, it already got a tiny dent in it. CF is the way to go…
Rebranded c8, isn't going to be objectively bad. But it isn't anything new, or worth the price tag. Rebranding it was a great way to get rid of the excess stock they couldn't push into the Chinese market.
Have you tried the Universal Nova? Any thoughts on it?
I recently got one and it feels and plays nice but haven’t had enough table time with it.
Universal is the current big thing here. Seems everyone and their dog switched from Zen with Cuetec Cynergy, to full Cuetec X and then onto Universal. That would be my observation of the staff and the players commonly frequenting my local over the last 12 months. Living here is a wonderful insight into consumerism on steroids. It usually goes TW player, visiting pro suggests, staff shop buy in, staff use and push onto players, players talk up to justify their purchase... rinse and repeat lol
Kielwood seems like a fab to me more than anything else. They are brittle and are not as low deflection as CF.
The Hayakawa shaft (which I was given by a Predator sponsored player, because in his words "I cannot stick a Predator sticker on it and use it myself") is rock solid. Feels good, sounds good, has so far been resistant to dings and dents.

Deflection, as a word, means almost nothing to me. I have only ever considered the subjective feel of shaft while playing (though I will say, playing with the xpro2 again at the moment, the additional flexibility of the wood does create some deflection that requires some adjustment - I still wouldn't be buying a cue because it is describing itself as "low deflection").
Also looks like mainly an American thing, you don’t see non American makers making it and hardly see it internationally and there is no non-American pro player that uses them.
I noticed a lot of players who are using KW here will import a Hsunami, and do so for the aesthetics, rather than the play.
I see the value in wood, whether a solid piece of clean maple, or torrified. The crafting, the ability to repair and alter the shaft to personal spec.
I do not see the value in carbon tube sold at an incredibly high mark up.

The Centro and the C8 share the same technology but differ in taper and diameter so I wouldn’t say that one is a rebrand of the other, just like the Z is not a rebrand 314.

I like the esthetics of the kielwood shaft, I’ve only tried the InFuze hybrid shaft that I own, I prefer CF (and the Predator LD shafts like the 314 and Centro) over it in terms of playability and performance.

If you look at territories that are not buying equipment for looks and bling, like the Philippines or Europe, you won’t see many Kielwood being used if any.
